2.2 is a Disappontment for PYTHON Commanders

Wrong. Dirty drives are better than Clean at everything except heat.

Hmm, that was not the results i seemed to get on the Python, but my test where not scientific or even recorded, it just seemed and looked faster at maneuvering than when i had my Dirty boy drives in. I will look this up and maybe do a more detailed test when i stop beaming on the new Monty Python.

I feel like pitch, roll and yaw were better with clean drives too, also a bit more boost. While Dirty drives have me faster top speed. I had them at tier 2 while leveling, but certainly worth a revisit.

Clean drive mods tend to give a better optimal mass, so maybe it's possible a clean mod could end up with more maneuverability than a dirty one, particularly if the ship is heavy or has anything less than the best thrusters installed. If both modded thrusters are still available, one could install them and compare the pitch/roll/yaw values in outfitting.

Speed is calculated differently to p/r/y, but not sure if it's possible for dirty to have worse speed than clean in the scenario above.

Other than that, with dirty thrusters maybe it might be harder to keep the throttle in the blue zone, or perhaps something to do with inertia when decelerating from their higher speeds.

Thats a great and helpful description taotoo, thank you. If i have time and more so the patience, i'll give this a go on the Python tonight as i have some 6A Clean drives in my Wasp0 store. Thinking aloud to get a scientific result would not the different RNG Dice Roles' have an impact on any test?

Where is Kornelis when you need him :)

Pitch and yaw rates are listed on the outfit screen for comparison.
Dirty drives are just better in every way in terms of agility and speed in a like-for-like comparison.
Sometimes something that is inferior 'feels' quicker, but I think it comes down to perception bias, rather than actual performance.

Well,

we CANT get cabin for passengers
we CANT transport ANYONE
we CANT get fighter port
so all the fancy new stuff is NOT for python pilots which is ridicolous because what the f... they think the damn second pilot seat on my right is for? i cannot even take ONE damn passenger with?! SO WHY THE FRICKIN SECOND PILOT SEAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Also why no damn cabins? FD argued that the pythin is "already a multipurpose ship". YES IT IS!!! and exactly THATS WHY it does not make ANY sense at all why i cannot customize my MULTIPURPOSE SHIP as I WANT. I could live with not gettin the fighter bay. screw that. but why the damn not the cabins?

next thing i didnt understand so far: where can i setup my avatar?! i didnt find it anywhere. so?

right now, the whole "BIG" update are just some changed sounds, some new small details in the UI, a new menu i didnt ask for and some functions which are not that hard to implement - from a python pilots POV.

i cant get passenger missions
i cant hire crew members. well i can, but its absolutely pointless since i cannot not assign them since i dont have a fighter port. in "reality" i COULD assign a crew member to MY or the second seat which then would assist with my ship while im on the ground with the srv. but hey, thats not possible! so what the point anyway....

yes im damn disappointed. 9gb update for some little little sound and menu changes and that i cannot transfer my ship.... almost a year for that....

*slowclap*

My Vulture can't have size 4 beam lasers either. I am very disappointed. I also want it to be able to jump 40 ly. FD really let me down.

Seriously though... I am a Python Cmdr. and I am not at all disappointed.

I can fit passenger cabins just fine. So what are you on about?

No I can not have fighters. That is what it is. Not every ship must have that ability. If you want to do stuff you current ship can't do then just earn the money for a ship that can. That is part of the game.

Avatar is 2.3.

I can't assume that the numbers seen are accurate and not a bug that needs a ticket. Wouldn't be the first disconnect. I think getting a good mass reduction secondary may be a factor.

It's fun to test anyway.

Yes you are probably right, maybe i was wanting the Cleans to be better.

Thank you

Dirty Drives just give you Straight line speed boost, Clean Drives will give your maneuverability a bit of a boost.

Dirty drives give you a huge manoeverability increase, as shown in the pitch/roll/yaw rates on the outfitting screens. I have level 5 dirtys on both of mine and they handle like Cobra Mk3s. Come to that they boost like Cobra Mk3s too, my mission running Python does over 430 with 200 tons of cargo onboard and 467 empty. :D

Buy a second ship ?

Aside from no fighter bays, the Python has become the single most versatile ship in 2.2.
I've put more light years on mine since 2.2 than ever.

My Python was my armed trader. Now it is my Armed Passenger ship. They may have nerfed trading, but it was replaced by Pass Missions. Especially if you have good rep or allied with a station.

Ix has good missions anywhere from 12ly to 200 ly. I just saw a Sagittarius A mission paying 85 mil there.

My Python was the first ship to the Scientific Installation in San Tu, the place with the comms beacon transmitting the location of the third alien wreck. I've had no issues with it so far (besides interdictions due to alien artifacts). Methinks OP is a case of complaining before playing.

Who really got the short end is Clipper pilots. Can't dock at outposts, laughable weak shields, tiny fuel tank, no SLF. I think my favorite ship needs some attention from FD.

I'm of the controversial opinion that freighters be restricted to economy class cabins, and I'm a player with a dedicated passenger anaconda who's done hundreds of sightseeing tour missions (check the tourism data needed thread)

Ships like the python, Types 6-9 or anaconda would be restricted to economy. Others would have access to business, while asp, fdl, clipper, cutter and corvette would have one bay that could take first due to their descriptionsite.

Would give actual passenger ships a reason to exist beyond 2% of missions.

Cutter and clipper with first class cabins ok. But Asp, FDL and Corvette? Not so sure. Asp is an explorer and seems more like a utilitarian build (based on the ship model.) The FDL is a luxury bounty hunter, don't even know what it's doing hauling sightseers (smuggling important gangsters maybe.) The Corvette is a battleship. The only passengers it should be hauling should be space navy members. Maybe one First class cabin for the 1 Admiral on board.

BTW, I'm a Python pilot and I think the Python is just fine especially with engineered modules. I've just flown Lady Jayne to Sag A* and now we are exploring Colonia. Disclaimer: I also have a Cutter, Corvette and a Conda.
