When during the day its starting to become obvious things are getting tough, just send out a tweet:"Working hard, may not make it today. More info will follow."
I honestly believe they didn't lose hope for today until just before Edward announcement. Maybe i'm wrong.

Very typical. Was initially announced for the week of Feb 20-Feb 26, then changed to the 27th, now, well, maybe tomorrow :)

Thanks to Ed for the update, though. Much appreciated.

Ah, I has the sad. Ed, we really appreciate you keeping us informed, keep up the good work and I'm sure we'll see the beta and get our crack patch notes early tomorrow.

Because we're clearly all addicts, can you give us any little extra teasers from the patch notes to tide us over... We've already had the reveal of the 22 character limit and that confirmation that ship names will appear on the hull, but have you got anything else for us?

An assumption based on no real knowledge of their real reasons.

Seems more logical thay "hey guys, its reay to rock - but hey lets do it tomorrow .... pizza anyone?"

or

Hey Star Citizen are always late - let show the world we are just like them!

Its a beta reelase, you hold a beta release up becase the product is not ready foe beta. This tends to be a show stopping problem, that can be recreated (or not) where devs are scratching their heads to figure where in the code it is going wrong.

Serioulsy at this rate they are going to say sometime between (1 month period) - I mean what is it for Frontier to actually communicate with this community?

Simon

Thanks Ed for the update, and thanks To the team for all their hard work. Looking forward to More information on 2.3 :).

I understand that it´s not easy to publish an update/beta on time. I also understand that sometimes, a beta has to be slightly delayed... but... this is the end of February and we are talking about an update that was scheduled for released in autum. So... I´m getting slightly annoyed.

"2.3 – The Commanders
Coming Fall 2016
Team up and stand together. Forge your own identity with the new Commander Creator, then share your bridge with Multi-Crew and fly with friends"

Damn it !
You kill my hype, now I am not expecting much from you FD
Avatars ... ok well , I played in lone wolf so I am only waiting for atmospheric planets landing now... see you in 2020 !
I ll play SC till there

If Apple said in regard to their new iPhone "We are aiming for Monday", how many tens of thousands of people do you think would be lining up at their stores to buy it on Monday morning.

If you can't see a promise in that sentence then I sincerely hope that you never get into PR or have to manage anyone's expectations.

Yeah man, we are talking about a beta with some real core changes (network stuff) here, and not about a product being released to a store. What a small mind must one have to compare a beta release of a software to a major release of a final product to the market? This is really stupid, dude.

How you figure its 6 months late? Het its a long time I may have forgotten!

S1: Dec 2014-Dec 2015 (1.0-1.4)
S2: Dec 2015-(implied) dec 2016. (2.0-2.4)

2.3 may or may not just make it to live in Q1, but may easily slip into early Q2 2017, with 2.4 being Q2 2017 at best and probably Q3. 2.4 should have been released two months ago, 3.0 should have been in beta at least. Instead, we have no clue what 2.4 is, whether there will be a 3.0 and which month/year it can be expected. Thats not really okay, espescially to people who paid for a LTE.

I think this is a little unfair. We post this information with a heavy heart. We are working very hard to get things ready for the beta test period. I understand you may be disappointed... but I'm always going to keep you updated with information when it's available.

Ed, do you mind if I make a suggestion. I'm a games developer myself, okay these days I only mess about with small projects for fun but I have worked for bigger developers in the past. I understand that it's completely gutting for you guys to have to announce, for the second time in a row, that beta 2.3 is delayed. It's not a happy feeling when you have to let your players down. However, I feel that some of the backlash being aimed at FDev from some gamers may be due to the fact that people have heard nothing all day and the official Frontier Help twitter, which is the only place people can get updates quickly, has been liberally telling people who asked when the release is due that it would be "soon". So it's obviously going to cause a few grumps here and there...

The Frontier help twitter is obviously manned quite a bit during the course of a day, as whoever has been posting has been replying to a lot of people today, so perhaps it would be an idea to post hourly updates on there when the community are waiting for a release update? You don't have to give an ETA or anything, just say something. And if there's a problem that's holding stuff up, just give a quick "we're looking into an issue will post more news soon" to let people down a bit more gently, before you post the "Sorry guys! We'll have to try again tomorrow." update.

It might deflect some of the venom from certain quarters.

Look, all I'm saying is that if they even had an inkling that they weren't going to be able to make their secondary date, they should have given a date further back. That would have solved us being upset, them missing a date, and would possibly have been a nice surprise for us had they released it early. Everyone would have won.

Thats a shame , but very normal.

Its important for us to remeber this is a beta and not a game.
A beta is not a toy (no matter what EA/UBISOFT want you to think) and is aimed at testing purposes only

I don't think most people are upset that they didn't release the beta today, I think most people are upset because they said they would release it today and didn't.

Think of it like your kid. Do you get mad at them because they used your card to buy a $5 game item, or do you get mad because they lied about it?

They didn't say they would release it today and they didn't lie. They said they were aiming to release it today which means they would try their very best to release it.

Obviously there is a show stopping issue (or issues) which is preventing the release to be today and it makes perfect sense to delay until that is fixed.
