Telepresence... Well, yeah, might do as an "excuse" I suppose. But perhaps it would feel slightly better if all involved had to dock at a station providing a "Up-link service" - an in station service that establishe telepresence links through some nicely done UI.
It feels cheap.
telepresence has been shown to be limited to 20KM with fighters , so how does it work 100000LYs?

From the options I have seen I'm going to point a few features I would love to see (and that some players have pointed):

Mining:
-Engineer crew able to launch prospector limpets 360º,
-Engineer crew able to select collection targets without destroying the limpets.
-A SLF with mining lasers.

Exploring:
-Science position to scan bodies 360º, even giving a boost to the scan speed.
-Ability for crew members to change the planned route while the helms keeps flying (incredibly useful in the galactic core)
-Increased POI detection on planet surfaces, and more accurate landing if a crew member is in the science seat.

Trading:
-Ability for the crew to check visited markets for better trading deals, on average making it faster to decide a good trading route.

And that's all. Cheers!

You don't.

In Elite, "You" are your ship. SC has "You" as the one sitting in the ship. In X, you don't even see "You", because you are an empire spanning many sectors and just happen to be sitting all of the time in a ship.

No, in ED we are not our ship. As someone else already said, you may want to take closer look around the cockpit: you may be surprised to see your torso, legs and hands. Yep, it's you sitting right there. Besides, we're going to get space legs in future, to walk around and do... stuff. How this "telepresence" fits there?

But look, as I said I don't care about the immersion and lore. I am in for the fun. Instant teleporation from one ship docked at Sol to another in Beagle point is great. I just don't see why we have to bother with delayed ship transfers. Gameplay > everything else.

Don't think of it as your character (unless you bother to make arrangements to meet up somewhere first or whatever). Think of it as a temporary second account. That more or less fixes it for me in terms of joining a ship. If you're captaining the ship, assume you've always had the crew (at least since the last dock) and are only now calling them to the bridge.

Seems easy enough to me.

Oh my god people see what we are having to do to cover up how badly thought out telepresence is, imagine this or that. They should be explaining how this stuff fits into the current lore and it should make sense and be a good feature that people find useful, I/we are not being paid to design the game for them. It is their job...

P.s. I do love your game Fdev, seriously though...

There IS no good lore way to explain telepresence across a galaxy, but the mechanic is still necessary.

Has it ever been officially stated that there is a lore reason for being able to insta crew transfer, and that lore reason is telepresence?

Despite how fast the thread is growing, have been keeping a watchful eye on the feedback. :)
Brett, do you think it would be possible to put Beta access back on the store? Whilst I already have beta I do have a friend who doesn't and would like to try out multi-crew. Also, as multi-crew seems to have created another super-debate (what's new ), I think it would be good for more people to try it out in beta. Thanks.

There could have been if they thought about it from day one, and planned with it in mind. Now I am starting to think that only a time machine, or it was all just a dream and the world actually works like this instead retcon can save them.

Not tying this new mechanic in to hired NPCs is a real loss. Sure, allow all current mechanics until space legs are out and then come up with something more plausible, but you currently have "warm bodies" to fill those seats and they aren't cheap. Give NPCs the roles for when P2P is problematic and for those who play solo as well as those of us who want to enjoy the thought of having a crewed ship (I imagine there are quite a few of us) but aren't often online at the same time as friends. I can think of many reasons why you don't want a crew of strangers warping onto your ship and none for why you might not want your crew of NPC pilots.
Edit: this would help justify why you have up to three hires that simultaneously drain your profits. No NPC, no multicrew. You want to have multicrew available, have the hired crew already in your ship.

How does this "fix" earning money while in someone else's ship then being put into your "main" account?

What about interesting ideas for exploration and multicrew I have one:
If you can board physically the ship (even without space leggs). You should be able to stay on that ship even when you logoff. That this great opportunity for making exploration more cooperative. Just think about it. You planned to travel to Sag A* with your friends. So you joined all together on one ship and started the voyage. At some points your friends need to logoff but you still want to play. There is on problem, because even when they are online they still traveling with you (they just went to their crew quarters). Next day when you are offline, they started play earlier and they continue journey until you login.

Next thing worth to consider will be Ship Launched Recon Vehicles. Equipped with very small FSD, advanced sensors, unarmed explorer ship. Just imagine that possibility to deploy your friends and all of you searching for something interesting in system.
Of course that kind of ships shouldn't be able to jump between systems, only in-system Super Cruise should be allowed.

Everything of this should be achievable quite easily without Space Legs. Just simple multicrew with some addition. Think about it and how amazing it will be to explore galaxy in that way. When I think about exploration, I have Mass Effect 1 surface missions in my mind, just imagine that you and your friends in Mako vehicle (or big SRV). Of course it could be even better with space legs, but assume that we doesn't consider this feature right now...
