2.3 dev update feedback mega thread

Well, at least the beta is generating a lot of feedback for Frontier to consider.....given that I would argue it actually started the moment the Dev Update was posted...... 😉

What about interesting ideas for exploration and multicrew I have one:
If you can board physically the ship (even without space leggs). You should be able to stay on that ship even when you logoff. That this great opportunity for making exploration more cooperative. Just think about it. You planned to travel to Sag A* with your friends. So you joined all together on one ship and started the voyage. At some points your friends need to logoff but you still want to play. There is on problem, because even when they are online they still traveling with you (they just went to their crew quarters). Next day when you are offline, they started play earlier and they continue journey until you login.

Next thing worth to consider will be Ship Launched Recon Vehicles. Equipped with very small FSD, advanced sensors, unarmed explorer ship. Just imagine that possibility to deploy your friends and all of you searching for something interesting in system.
Of course that kind of ships shouldn't be able to jump between systems, only in-system Super Cruise should be allowed.

Everything of this should be achievable quite easily without Space Legs. Just simple multicrew with some addition. Think about it and how amazing it will be to explore galaxy in that way. When I think about exploration, I have Mass Effect 1 surface missions in my mind, just imagine that you and your friends in Mako vehicle (or big SRV). Of course it could be even better with space legs, but assume that we doesn't consider this feature right now...

BOINK!
The sound of rep being awarded. +1

Thanks - you've just excluded all players out exploring.

That was one of the things that attracted me to this game, do I go out into the black for a few weeks sometimes more, sometimes less, or do I stay at home and do the same old same old

Now whats the point I can just see if someone is somewhere hope they have open crew or what ever its going to be and jump in to their ship, nah not for me if I'm out in the black its because I've chosen to get out there under my own steam, not by space magic. or vice versa suddenly I can be back in the bubble from wherever I was.

I know its coming and tbh even tho I dont like it, I dont care anymore about it coming, life is too short to worry about it and who am I to deny anyone else the fun they desire. It feels cheap tho very cheap. But then I'm a solo player and when I lock the air lock its locked to all and sundry. So as long as I can keep doing my thing FD can implement all the wand waving space magic they want.

How does this "fix" earning money while in someone else's ship then being put into your "main" account?
To be honest for me thats not a big issue.
If others want to cheat and skip all the fun , so be it.

What bothers me is more rejection of internal logic.
Unless you need to be docked at a station for this to work , but I dont think thats going to be the case. I think its going to be able to be done anywhere at any time. but we will see.

I may be negative about it but I will wait and see.
It just makes me wonder about the future

So, one can explore Sagittarius, Colonia, Jack Station, instantaneously, despite never been an explorer and having only ship that jump lousy amounts (-20ly)?
What's will be the incentive to start our exploration career if we can jump to one's ship that already is 25000 ly from the bubble?
Some people already have ships that jump 55+ ly and are fitted for exploration, so why would I bother?

I hope that my suggestions will be considered by Frontier because I am mainly combat player however that kind of exploration sounds extremely interesting for me... Even enough interesting to start doing it ;D

It's just that I was thinking something very similar a few minutes before I read your post.
It sounds like some kind of...Star...Trek...

...with your friends coming along.

So just choose to stay out in the black then. Voila, problem solved.

So folks....any thoughts on the incoming 3rd person cam?

I thought that would be burning the forums down....people seem to be letting it pass surprisingly quietly.....

It's an elaborate ruse by FDEV to absolve them of doing any Explorer development and content. Fewer Explorers=no need for development[rolleyes]

If people are really into realism and don't want telepresence then if one or more of your crew members gets disconnected due to internet, server or instancing issues, then you should be forced to fly back to the station to pick them up again. :p

Has it ever been officially stated that there is a lore reason for being able to insta crew transfer, and that lore reason is telepresence?

No, there is no lore reason for this. It's done this way for gameplay. That's it. Telepresence does not have the range and there is no teleportation in the elite universe. There is no in-game lore reason to explain how this functionality works. We're basically getting a "looking for group" feature. But don't worry about it, as long as it's fun who cares. We have to get used to the fact that everything in game will not be explained by lore. This will be one of those times.

Who needs a Friendship Drive when you have Space Magic

How does this "fix" earning money while in someone else's ship then being put into your "main" account?

Depends on if you have a problem with how things work with CQC.

Besides, money quickly becomes a non-issue the way the game currently is (at least for me) so it's easy enough to ignore. You can always turn down the money if you want to keep your account "pure" ;)

I don't suppose I could ask someone to summarise all the talking points in this 60 page thread for us?

There will be much rep for you. and a request that all future discussion link back to the summary page. for reference.
