Patch Notes Update 2.3 The Commanders - Changelog

It could also be a momentary glitch. I noticed with the previous update, as well as this one, that the ports I was at that had plenty of missions, now suddenly have 0/0. The same happened in 2.2 update and then after a week or two it seemed to get back to normal. Maybe the mission servers just fall behind or something.

A bit offtopic, but that sounds more like a Background Simulation (BGS) thing, than related to the update. Look for the state the system is in, first :)

Dear Frontier Developers; could I please have 2.2 back? 2.3 is un-playable because map-navigation is broken. Thank you from a customer whom did not pay to do beta-testing.

I think you're right that it has something to do with the BGS. However, the system I was in said it was in boom, and the main faction was booming too, but there is civil war between two factions. Maybe that's the reason.

One thing that would be nice to have is if the program could give information about why a station is in lockdown or is out of missions. You're left with an uncertainty if it's proper behavior of the game or if it's a bug when no missions show up.

Ah but it does. Read station news, usually its there ;-)

EDIT: That said, a boom + a civil war should result in at least massacre missions.

Ah! Ok. I never paid any attention to that one. Good info. Thx.

Yeah. But there was nothing. And the same in some other stations in other systems.

I suspect it's just a matter of waiting a few days and it will normalize again.

Can't play the game anymore after update. When in cabin trying to look around once I stop the mouse, view keeps going for a bit. It creates this stupid motion effect, which gives me motion sickness and headache :/
That, and now I feel like I'm playing on 10 year old PC with stuttery entries into systems and blurry star textures which pop several times before finally loading. And my character disapears when I jump into FSD space.

P.S. when in cabin I am getting 220-280fps, yet feels like less than 30 :/

i stopped reading the bugs pages on page 12

I think this is the absolute low point a game can have
12 pages filled with bugs
and on top of that they removed the wally-wally star system
so we can not get our favorite commodity anymore "BUGSPRAY" hahahahahahahaha
well done guys i must praise you guys for the ammount of time that has gone into making our life missarible

maybe a tip for the dev team
just go back 4 updates
that was the good old days when everything was working fine hahahahahahaha you know when stacking of missions was allowed and some brain got the idea of stopping stacking of massacre and skimmer missions and introduce the multi crew

I wonder when there is going to be a lawsuite against these kind of things
i mean there has to be some kind of law for people who buy games and then are faced with a game that works for like 75%

On the first part: There hasn't been a single update that people didn't have something they complained about. I think it is in certain people's nature to gripe.

In the last part: They would be exempt of lawsuit. Since the game was sold with the idea that it would be a growing changing over time with hundreds of alterations over (at minimum) 10 years they are well within that. Also, the core of the game as advertised is very complete, anything after that is icing of different flavors. There really wouldn't be a lawsuit possible on that kind of plan. Lastly, UK does have laws that cover that.

The mission system is one of the only things to have improved IMO.

Ok i can understand that games have developements and that things can and should be improved and i am talking in general so not just this game.
But i think you guys can agree with me that in some cases its not correct.
At this moment i feel that the game has become in a state where playing the game has become very hard to play because of all the bugs that are in place.
And i dont believe that i am the only one that has this problem.

I did read something about beta testers so i do think they are doing everything like it should be done and test the new updates.
But somewhere along this proces things go really wrong and in the end the players of the game are really affected by this.
i mean come on guys when i look at the bug list and see how many pages there are there must be something wrong

for instance yesterday i am shure they where working on the graphics there was a moment where i got into a station and saw that the graphs where really messed up (see my picture and look at the lines of my ship) 5 or 10 minutes later there was a disconnect from the servers and after that the graphics where back

so dont get me wrong i know they are working there butts of to get it right and i do apriciate it
but like i say the beta testing is something they could improve just to prevent the majority of bugs

and considdering everything that has changed over the last couple of weeks i would suggest go back to where the game was functioning on a better level and then go back to the drawing board and start all over
its like building a house when the contruction is not right you can not go on with building and in some cases the whole structure has te be demolished and rebuild
and yes that cost time and money i know

By the way 16 pages of bugs reported now

• Adjust the sorting of signals being sent to the sinewave scanner GUI/audiorather than tracking a fairly unreliable subset of available signals, they should both now deal with as many as they can manage (8 and 32) ranked in order of signal strength. Fixes known cases where nearby objects can be omitted from the scanner (some entirely, some would be audio-only). Also includes some minor optimisation to the system as a whole

Dont touch the code anymore!!

The onlyexception, when you make a little more distinct visual and audio for every different type of signal.
Not everyone is a musician, and 34th century technology maybe capable to display this variation more percisely.

--------Edit

and an adjustable sound volume for ship equipment would be great!

Back-step from such a major server change would be technically a major issue. Too many things that changed the way the game core on last patch would literally means every thing anyone had done since the last patch and addin of the new ships and alteration in designs all would reset.... That would be business suicide.

ok i can understand that
But clearly something has to be done the game has become almost impossible to play this way
just now i am in a station and the mission board can not retreive the list from the server
just cost me another million but thats not a problem

the problem is gameplay and for now there is absolutely way to much errors in the game and is has become unplayeble
and to be honnest i dont see how they can build any further on these new update there are major problems and major should be MAJOR
i just hope there is someone who can talk some sense into the managements brains

It seems like just bad debugging which can be corrected by a patch or 2. Teething pains after a major patch is by no mean uncommon, even companies like Microsoft suffer it, their latest patch created several problems as well. It's in the 'expected' category. Having said all that, I am fully surprised there are so MANY bugs in the release of the patch.
