But Open was made for that player interaction.

So were Private Groups.

If they didnt want us shooting each other. They would have just disabled it. And they never would have introduced something called a Grom Missile. They wouldnt pit feds vs imps. And they wouldnt expanding on the crime and punishment.

The expansion of C&P / introduction of a karma system would seem to be as an encouragement to players that currently don't play in Open (at all or much).

you guys seriously love to have your cake and eat it too. You get to effect open players through the BGS.

By design - all players, regardless of game mode (and now platform) affect the single shared galaxy state. Players in Open affect players in the other two modes too....

You get to whine and complain about open without ever stepping foot in it. Or getting the experience because for some reason getting blown up in Elite Dangerous is such a bad thing. Apparently learning the game, putting a shield on your ship is a bad thing too.

Given that there is only one game mode with an unlimited population it's hardly surprising that players who eschew PvP would like to play in Open (more often / at all) due to the that mode being the only one where they might meet the most players.

If Frontier were to implement one of the other Open groups (modes), as offered in the Kickstarter pitch, with the ability for different rules to suit different play-styles (again as offered in the Kickstarter pitch) then I'd expect that one of them would be an Open-PvE mode - in which case complaints from PvE players about Open(-PvP) would very probably reduce significantly.

Not everyone plays the game to be blown up by other players - just as not everyone finds that to be "fun".

You dont have to go into any other mode and still experience this game.

One does not have to, if one is PvP tolerant - for those who just don't find PvP to be "fun" there are thankfully other play options.

.... and we all play games to have "fun", don't we?

lower your Effects Volume and increase your Wave Scanner volume if it's not maximum (yes, they have separate volume controls in audio since long time ago)

  • For ship kill missions, the mission giver is considered when deciding if a kill should count. This allows for some mission stacking, but only when missions are from different factions

Excellent change. Because thats what I thought was the logical decision: The same person would never pay you multiple times for doing the same job (=stacking). But different persons would.

There is no reward for Open Play.
Reward everyone across the board for their efforts.
Give people a reason to play in open.

Everyone across the board is rewarded for their efforts regardless of game mode used - so your demand was already met.
This automatically falsifies your statement "there is no reward for open play" - because it gets the same reward as other modes.

If you have "no reason to play open", you are perfectly ok to "blaze your own trail" using one of the other two available modes at your full discretion.

Question: the decal we can earn by participating in the community goal in open beta, is it the same we got in the closed beta? And is it enough to have participated in closed beta? Also, we didn't need to get a sample of every single needed material, but only one as long as we turned it in at the station, right? Right?

I think your assumptions are probably correct. I collected a hundred tons of various 'Thargoid bits' in the closed beta but didn't have time to drop them off at the station the day I collected them. The next day the closed beta finished but when I jumped into the open beta last night my ship was in the same place I left it on the planet surface. I still had the meta-alloys I had collected and all the Thargoid materials.

The mission was still live in my log so I flew back to the station and dropped the materials off and they were accepted so I guess if you check your own logs you should see a record of whatever you have already contributed.

Well, after 12 hours of downloading, the beta still has '5 minutes to go', and I've got huge client and update logs full of errors with one particular file. Curse you "PUBLIC_TEST_SERVER_64\Win64\0f\f91bb647b6806b8666914da6ffee0ec9e08b5067". Ho hum - I suppose I better go off into the real world and have fun there. :)

No fix for heat sink syhtesis ruining all balance? Shame. Hope devs will listen to community before launching 2.4 live.

That's what this beta is for. We need to test the balance. :D

Personally, following the rules of what happens in Beta stays in Beta, I plan on being a murdering Hobo, so if you see me with a Pilot's Federal Bounty, you welcome to try and collect it.

Oh. This one is quite simple, I had something similar.

1. Abandon Update.
2. Close Launcher.
3. Delete any temp files that are in the same directory and the offending file.
4. open 'Internet Explorer' (yes I know).
5. Use the Internet Explorer tools to delete all temporary internet file/ browsing history.
6. Close the lot and reload the launcher.
7. Update the Beta again.

Normally, this has solved 90% of all my beta download issues.
3.

.... because Frontier have chosen to retain game features contained in their earliest published design information for the game (over four and a half years ago), through development and past release (over two and a half years ago) - despite demands from a subset of the player-base to change the game to suit their play-style - a play-style that, from what one Dev has indicated, Frontier are well aware that the majority of players don't engage in.

The voice of reason strikes again! Absolutely spot on, +rep sir! :)

awesome!!! How many new features! This is the most diverse and best game in my life !!! There is everything you can wish for in the world! BEST PATCH EVER !!!

p.s. Yes, I was paid $ 100 for this post, as well as all the above.

You dont have to go into any other mode and still experience this game. Open is certainly harder to play in. Or people wouldnt be in Mobius.

Certainly harder eh?
Nothing in this game is difficult.
How about this? There is much less stupid in Mobius from obnoxious Cmdr's.
Seems closer to the mark to me.

This isn't a issue. Your mistaking a personal preference as a game issue.

There are other threads dedicated to the Open / Solo / Group topic.

Reducing the BGS and influence rates in solo and private and rewarding the risks of Open Play for all commanders? Other wise why does anyone play in open? It needs Incentive.

Hmmmm.

New hairstyles almost enough to bring me back but not quite. I've been away from the game for several months, i assume 2.4 will have some big stuff as yet undisclosed. keep it up frontier slow but steady.

You mean that full blown chain missions isn't enough for you? Oh well, more galaxy for the rest of us ;).
