But Open was made for that player interaction.
So were Private Groups.
If they didnt want us shooting each other. They would have just disabled it. And they never would have introduced something called a Grom Missile. They wouldnt pit feds vs imps. And they wouldnt expanding on the crime and punishment.
The expansion of C&P / introduction of a karma system would seem to be as an encouragement to players that currently don't play in Open (at all or much).
you guys seriously love to have your cake and eat it too. You get to effect open players through the BGS.
By design - all players, regardless of game mode (and now platform) affect the single shared galaxy state. Players in Open affect players in the other two modes too....
You get to whine and complain about open without ever stepping foot in it. Or getting the experience because for some reason getting blown up in Elite Dangerous is such a bad thing. Apparently learning the game, putting a shield on your ship is a bad thing too.
Given that there is only one game mode with an unlimited population it's hardly surprising that players who eschew PvP would like to play in Open (more often / at all) due to the that mode being the only one where they might meet the most players.
If Frontier were to implement one of the other Open groups (modes), as offered in the Kickstarter pitch, with the ability for different rules to suit different play-styles (again as offered in the Kickstarter pitch) then I'd expect that one of them would be an Open-PvE mode - in which case complaints from PvE players about Open(-PvP) would very probably reduce significantly.
Not everyone plays the game to be blown up by other players - just as not everyone finds that to be "fun".
You dont have to go into any other mode and still experience this game.
One does not have to, if one is PvP tolerant - for those who just don't find PvP to be "fun" there are thankfully other play options.
.... and we all play games to have "fun", don't we?
