Patch Notes Update 2.4 The Return - Patch Notes

I was hoping that the NPC pyracy issues might be sorted, but I've got a feeling "stolen salvage" is from salvage ships. Probably still gonna get disappearing cargo from NPCs we manage to pyrat when their ship doesn't reboot within ten seconds.
I also didn't forsee that nerf towards Player Owned Factions with the BGS changes.
I just hope that Thargoids have the fun AI we had for a while before the carebears took it away seeing as they've been relegated to "danger zones" instead of just ripping us out of witchspace like they used to.
I guess I'll wait for season 3 and hope that pyracy gets fixed, PP payouts get increased, and that we get more interesting stuff to do when exploring.
I daren't hope that Pp becomes Open only to help player interaction and get the PvP community back involved, as I could feel Sandro's strain about the idea.
Still, I wasn't EGG-specting too much from this update so I haven't lost too much faith. I'm just lucky I didn't waste months in Quince like some people instead of helping my Wing out.

ofc it wasn't. THATS THE POINT

What's the point? What's the point in getting upset over a thing that wasn't in the patch notes or promised at any point in time? Take a look at that list of patches and fixes. That represents a MASSIVE amount of coding and debugging and graphics design work (yes, graphics design work, they did a reworking of the outpost stations among other things) and optimization of physics layers to improve framerate. All much more important to the overall experience.

This game is a huge undertaking that involves gigabytes of files and code. And I for one am rather pleased with the focus on performance and networking issues, and on the game-breaking bugs (like the skimmers crashing on our heads at planetary stations.)

Greetings Commanders,

Controls

  • Added default bindings for useful Multi-crew functions for the Thrustmaster T-Flight HOTAS range

PlayStation 4

  • Added a default binding for deploying your Cargo Scoop with the T-Flight HOTAS 4.
  • Added a default binding for targeting while in the SRV with the T-Flight HOTAS 4

I saw the warning about about backing up bindings, but I don't believe that is possible on PS4. I wonder if I will lose my preset changes.... I also wonder if I should switch back to default to pick up these multi-crew default bindings (initially all multi-crew functions are unbound).

Also....I know I didn't have to set a button for cargo scoop nor SRV targeting on my T-Flight HOTAS 4...odd that they would list that as being added.

Nope. Horizons is about planetary landings on Atmosphereless planets only which we have. Where you got that information from, I have no idea, but it isn't coming in the Horizons season.
in the first horizon official statement you read that the second season is about planetary landing and you can read "we start with ariless ones..."

+1
Have a rep ...

STEAM ED launcher update

I know this has probably been discussed, but a forum search came up empty.
I have both Frontier ED Launcher and STEAM/Frontier ED Launcher. I have updated the former, but wonder if the Steam version will update automatically because I haven't been able to do it manually.

Whereas I have the glasses, but not the game download .... swap? ... pleeeeeease :)

I'm on Steam normally, but as I'm sitting here with my notebook in a Danish summer house (but with a 50 MBit connection still), I just downloaded the ED Launcher and that one did its job. I can still clear up the double installations some time later. Managed to buy the Avatar Frame (sun)glasses by now, definitely not Amazon performance. Will try to buy the second set now :)

O7,
[noob]

these patch notes sound... mysterious.

They sound boring.

Seriously, refusing to even allude to new content in the patch notes makes it seem like you spent months of dev time on a few basic bug fixes and nothing more.

Add to that: Thargoid story content will come over the course of the next few months. Great. Another early access, wait and see update.

I am sorry, but...there's nothing to get excited for here. You dont have to outright spoil new stuff. But refusing to even allude to it makes me wonder if you even added anything at all. Which honestly makes me wonder why I still bother...

How about being patient for a couple more hours, logging in and flying over to Maia to see what the score is?

I can't see the need to be told what's in there. We know there are Thargoids in this update, we know they can be found as soon as the update's live and we know roughly where they are, so why not just go and find them? It's about time this game stopped spoon-feeding us.

Jeez, this is as bad as my wife obsessively reading about what's going to happen in Eastenders for the next week or two, then insisting on watching it anyway and complaining that it wasn't as good as she expected (for limited values of "good", obviously).

Idk ask somebody or not... What about steam? We still have nothing and how we can update launcher without installing it from ED home site?

Is too small.

Be glad FDev doesn't listen to me - I would require materials take up cargo space instead of being magically massless, volumeless, and indestructable (though it would be hundreds of materials per 1 ton of cargo space).

As for data scans, they make even less sense (there is no "copy-n-paste", just "cut-n-paste" of data in 3303).

I think what you really want is "Arcade Mode", whereas I want "Simulation Mode", so maybe someday FDev will give us the option to chose between the two, like the NMS update, when we start a new game.

Won't that just fragment the playerbase even moreso? Doesn't seem like a smart move.

Can we please slow down with these posts... I am on page 25 and not enjoying the page count keep rising!!!

In all seriousness why do people stress so much? Just enjoy the game??

Well played FD.. Looking forward to the update and a long and prosperous future of the game!

Hurry up though!! ;)
