I'm very frustrated & annoyed that Planetary missions are apparently still not fixed (i.e. not being issued, except very rarely, other than deliveries). That makes 2 major releases (2.3 & 2.4), that I cannot play ED because the content I'm interested in is missing (i.e. Horizon mission content). Starting to regret ever backing the ED Kickstarter now. Bad enough if promised stuff isn't added, but to loose major content that WAS added, for 6+ months, is just ridiculous.
ED was just starting to become a good single-player space game (and live up to it's Kickstarter promises) with 2.2, and then you go and undo that with 2.3+. I had been expecting to finally be able to recommend ED to some friends with 2.3, but now it seems I'm never going to be able to recommend ED to anyone![]()
Okay so - do note that nav beacons only exist in inhabited systems - most nav beacons are in the bubble.
In the bubble there are lots of 'known' systems - those are the ones for which your ship already has data on stars and the other bodies, and for which you can bring up the system map for without even visiting there.
This Nav Beacon Scan is basically to generate the Player Journal entries for 3rd party applications, which up until now, 3rd party applications couldn't get. So we 3rd party app developers asked Frontier for something like this.
So in other words - you'll only need to perform a Nav Beacon scan in certain circumstances - one of which is if you run a 3rd-party application for which you'd like to import the detailed scan data.
There are other uses for a nav beacon scan - if your ship doesn't have a discovery scanner and you're doing a mission in that system from somewhere else - there's no change in that usage.
There are systems which your ship doesn't know about, and also have nav beacons, and if you have a discovery scanner and a detailed surface scanner you can scan each body in that system and get the credits for them by selling that data at a system 20LY away. From memory of the 2.4 betas, if you first scan those bodies, then subsequently did a nav beacon scan, you'll only get the credits for the bodies you manually scanned.
Lol no it isn't.
Gotta love those personal agendas. The scanning of nav beacons was added specifically for people who don't carry discovery scanners but were doing missions in a system. They then took advantage and linked it into the mission system so if you don't have a discovery scanner, scanning the nav beacon gives you the location of your mission.

It's sublimation, it has been there since before 2.3.Did we have landable planets in 2.3 with some form of haze? Or is this new in 2.4? Currently I'm sitting in a crater of 19 PI CANIS MAJORIS B1 and see a faintly violet haze over the whole scenery. It's an otherwise beige giant high-g ice planet with bluish craters as seen from the orbit. Otherwise the planet is quite boring, but I can't recall something similar in 2.3
Ok dokey my opinions and complaints of current update. First bug report. Automated docking computer is now kamikaze pilot trying to crash to stations.
Second complaint, this may not be a bug but new and "interesting" feature. Missions. I have for a time flied cargo missions from Aditi system. Not too easy money, 20-30 jumps to various destinations, 1 to 3 millions per trip. Now what we have? Oh we have those tedious mining jobs, and more mining jobs. And yes some cargo missions. To COLONIA. Good deal flying to there for 4-5 million credits. Yeah sure. Somewhat more realistic payout would be like 100 million credits.
Or maybe developer's idea of "fun" is very very slow and tedious grind. 2.3 had balance in order when compared to this.

Just look, normally you would see a hallway 2 or 3 doors (don't remember exactly) but now it's just a mess
