6 Hours of Effort Wasted

6 Hours of effort in trade wasted because of FDev's shananigans with the tick yesterday. Just lost into the void. Nothing.

FDev,
Are you *trying* to drive me away from the game?

I notice also that doing tons of +++++ influence missions doesn't seem to affect faction influence now.

You know, Morbad, that's a decent idea. If the mission board can be updated every 10-15 minutes, why can't individual systems be updated like that as well?
It'd never fly with FDev though. Not enough control.

But hell, I'd settle for just an automated tick. Other games can do it. Guild Wars 2 for example. For me the tick in GW2 is 6PM - every - single - night.

The game does have an automated tick. How did you think it worked? They definitely don't have an intern going through thousands of systems line by line.
The tick hasn't worked properly for two days now, it's unlikely to be fixed on a weekend. Get ready for another tick or two not working.

Yet, it doesn't mean your work was for nothing. We just don't know the results, which is not the same as no result existing. This kind of problem has happened before for systems going through expansion states, and in the end all of those ticks tallied up at once. That's probably what we'll see again.

Wow! There's being cryptic by controlling information and then there's being cryptic by refusing any kind of information at all. Are you suggesting FDev have upped their game? They do like to keep us guessing, they say. I guess there's not much else you can do nowadays. Induction, deduction, nothing works at all.

Well played, FDev. Well played. :D

I have an easy fix for that, don't play a game if you don't enjoy the process of playing it. That way, your time wasn't wasted once the internet pixels go away.

At any point, if to the question "am I having fun" you must answer "no but I'm working towards a goal", you're setting yourself up for disappointment.

I don’t think he is playing it, he is living it.

I love that you think this justifies broken game mechanics. How someone chooses to play the game is their own decision. It's not unreasonable for them to expect the fundamental mechanics to work.

This is similar to the responses insisting there are no bugs or stability issues, despite the fact there is DEMONSTRABLY a tonne of them. It all falls into the "nothing to see here" defence strategy employed by the more convinced of the player base. Perhaps if we all acknowledged the reality of the state this game was in, as opposed to bickering and denying the obvious, FD would be forced to allocate some resource to fix it.

Frontier have broken the BGS. Frontier have acknowledged that the BGS is broken. It's a bit harsh to pile on a player who's understandably upset because Frontier's mistake has robbed him of the reward he reasonably expected to receive for his efforts.

Don't you get it? It's his fault for playing the game in a way that's supposed to work. FDev aren't in any way responsible for bugs and broken mechanics. If you put time into the game and don't get the reward that the game should provide it's all your fault.

I know it seems crazy, but having spent almost a year on this forum, I've realised that's how it works. Everyone says so.
