6 Hours of Effort Wasted

I'd say there are two different issues.

1. BGS and Tick being broken. Totally Frontiers fault and they are to blame for it.

2. OP not enjoying the gameplay that could've lead to the results he might have enjoyed. If you don't like the gameplay but just the results, it's a job and not entertainment.

Well perhaps....but the thread is about the broken BGS. You've inferred the second point.

Something about this does not add up.

FD are appealing for information of this kind in order to fix the BG, and you are saying it's not effectively reportable ?

There are two options open to you:

1) Provide information in the thread I posted previously to help devs reach a solution for everybody (the instructions from Will are clear enough as to what information to provide);

2) Write a rant thread and perpetuate it.

You appear to have opted for the latter, which helps no-one  (or have you done (1) already?)

You are assuming I trust Fdev to try to fix the problem.
That I want to give my location and tell my activities to the entire community.

You see, I fight for democracy in Imp space. I don't want them to know precisely what I am doing. Information, or lack thereof, is the greatest weapon one has.
Unfortunately, FDev doesn't give us the option to not reveal this stuff in our reports. When they do, I will use their bug-reporting feature.
By going to the general forums, the matter gets air time, and I can be as specific about the particulars *as I want to be.*
Does that help you to understand now?

Last time the tick got delayed the influence built up and then hit all in one go, so its not wasted effort you just can't see the effect yet.

As per the bug forum guidelines post, for any issue with the game where you might not want to divulge everything publicly, you can open a ticket via the support website.

I don't owe anyone this explanation, but I'll offer it anyway.

I play mostly because a friend likes the combat aspects of the game, and I enjoy playing the game with him. He has much more limited time than I do, so I try to make his time spent in game as rewarding as possible. It's my job to work the BGS and set up the conflicts. Much of that "setting up" is hardly thrilling work. Missions are just garbage, now that we have so very few to choose from. Trade is boring and almost useless. Does anyone even know if exploration is worth anything anymore? Credits are not really an issue for me so money-making stuffs don't really appeal to me that much.

It is not nearly so easy as it once was for me to put 6 consecutive hours into a game made stultifyingly tedious by the devs and their masters.

This is a rather jaundiced opinion, don'tcha think? Who are you to dictate what is wasted time in someone else's life? I don't tell you what is wasted time in yours, do I?

Not reportable, or rather, not effectively so.

No, I do not think so.
Playing video games is a way to waste time. A very entertaining one, sometimes quite immersive, I do not even discount the chance of making friends through it, but you still are wasting time.
No idea what is so aggravating about it. Therefore I conclude that is something on your side more than on mine. And if this bothers you, then again, your problem.

To the second. I say there "several options". Again, you don't like that option don't use it. Simple.

Even if you are enjoy playing the game, if you are working towards an objective, be it influence for your faction or credits to get that new module and you don't get that promised reward it is frustrating.

The silence from FDev makes it more so.

You don't owe an explanation. You're complaint is legit. The usual culprits will always lurk around these threads attacking anyone who has the audacity to raise genuine issues with the game. My advice is to block people. They're MO is to get every thread like this bogged down in pointless argument and muddy the water until a moderator closes it down. Hence, nothing ever gets resolved and the game continues to deteriorate into more broken mechanics and bugs. I blame tje community as much as the devs for the state of the game.

That seems a fair assessment.

I would be happy to block white knights and their ilk (the worst kind of trolls), but the forums (so far as I know) only permits ignore, which (very unfortunately) is not the same. Is there actually a true block function (so that those blocked cannot see my posts either)?

I am also afflicted by provokers who then whine to the (entirely gameable) moderation team when I respond to them. That's a very large part of the toxicity that these forums are renowned for.

Your opinion is duly noted and stored in file 13.

Accurate.

No one here is 100% innocent of toxicity, least of all you or me. Part and parcel with being human, yo.

It's amusing to me though that my original comment was honest and yet taken so poorly by the OP. I've got a couple squadron members who are on a break right now until stuff gets sorted. It's a big, complex game. Toys get broken. If you're upset about the state of the game, step away. It's cool. Really. Anyway, I love BGS work too but hey, it'll be a minute before we can get back to it. So what did I do? Stirred up some trouble in HIP 23395, made new and interesting friends, went out to the Guardian sites, and built a new Krait Phantom. Had a real blast and looking forward to next weekend already.

I mean, the OP and others have already dropped how much time? Now we're on this thread dropping more? Shall we discuss our mutual masochism next or perhaps just get on with it?

Pointless arguments? That's what you are doing. Blame yourself.
