I'd be happy if FD or even Drew Wagar would clarify exactly where the Formadine Rift is instead of all the riddles. I'm out there now heading to what people believe is the rift but we could all be totally wrong

Personally I think he was reffering to things like Voyager probes and other things sent out from earth.

The next question was something along the lines of "things other than stuff like the Voyager probes?" to which he replied "Yes".
If you ask me this is all an example of an epic failure to communicate/breakdown in communication, leading to a general mini-bombshell announcement, resulting in an even greater epic witchhunt for oddities up till now described with only a 'wink'. Granted, a Braben wink but a wink nonetheless.

Daaaaaaaang, you could probably get an Anaconda if you went back now.
I only tried going to Coalsack in my Cobra, and at the time, I only had a 13LY FSD and it was a pain.
Now i am intrigued if it was only added to wings!
Ulysses, what jump range does your cobra have? I want to head back now to upgrade from my Asp.

You're better off sticking with the ASP, the Cobra gets around 30 max while the ASP gets around 38 max.
38? I've only got 34 atm.
My jump range is 26LY. My only concern was being able to traverse the arms of the Galaxy. Most of my jumps lately have been economical ones (3-6ly per jump), this speeds up fuel scooping and keeps my temperature way down when scooping.
I was never interested in getting a massive jump range, you only really need that if you heading to the extreme rim, or the top/bottom. (Or of course if you're in some sort of mad rush, or late for something)
Additionally, the Cobra is relatively cheap to buy, equip and insure. IMHO, it's the ideal exploration ship to have.

I've played around with other ships in the Mac beta including the anaconda, and to be honest, I haven't found a suitable successor to my Cobra yet. Perhaps I'm just an aged Luddite.

Might be an idea to make the hints/clues just a wee bitty more decipherable
Honestly, with FD and clues these days I'd rather pass a hedgehog - like kidney stone than delve into the black arts that is the current clue system.......

I'm half way over what I think is the rift and finding it a real struggle to get all the way over.
I partly convinced myself that no developer would put content so far way. But then I think.... what if, and can't bring myself to turn back.
I would imaging that 'whatever they are' have an large region so we are not looking for a single planet.
