My biggest reasons to wish this game comes to Steam
- I can chat with friends while gaming
- I can stream on Steam to friends who's online without the need to make an account and the hassle to stream on Twitch (although I have a twitch account, not everyone has one)
- friends watching me stream might be interested thus increase fan base and more player interaction/sharing with my friends
- I can literally play the game anywhere without buying it twice. All I need to do is log in and start playing
- I don't have to care about manually going to a website to look for/download/install a patch or updates
- should there ever be one or several DLC's, it's not much of a problem to find it and keep it organized in terms of purchase and installation

Why buying it twice?

80 dollars is a lot of money...I think I'll save my excitement and build up anticipation for actually release instead of spending so much.

Besides rctw will be release in a few months so I'll play that until

I saw someone saying they had gotten a second copy (a coaster head + game when it's done and he's also purchased early access which also grants him the game when it's done) and he'd install it on his laptop.

With Steam, the Steam client and your user there holds the license. Thus you only need one copy of the game to use it anywhere.

I wouldn't build your hopes up with RCTW. the way things are at the moment with that game, you will be lucky if it releases before mid summer at the earliest.

On the Frontier Store you have unlimited remaining downloads. Look at My downloadable Products. I think you can install it on your PC and laptop.

But serial numbers are usually possible to use once.
I have no idea how they are going to deal with licences and such. Let's just wait and see. Either way, I'm all in for an option to have it on Steam.

If the early access was $50 I'd be able and willing to afford it. Unfortunately, I'm only able to get a pre-order down. I do think that $80 is a bit too much, but who am I to say that?

Here's how we do the access with Elite Dangerous... it behaves much like your run-of-the-mill MMORPG patcher client. [up] A person buys the product, order is successful, an internal key/entitlement tag is generated and applied to the account. The user then can (much like Steam's client for example), download and install the game on any machine that they please (barring any DRM from the publishers) with their own credentials.

It's a fairly simple process really. Please note that I don't have the info in front of me for how we are going to do such for Planet Coaster, and the above may not be applicable to Planet Coaster.

Noting one thing, I am a huge fan of patcher clients. As it opens the realm for us developers to apply fixes consistently (keeps everyone in sync), point out community happenings, announce new expansions and major updates, etc. I know the downsides to such clients as well, but that's a subject for another day.[yesnod]

and I hope Frontier used a equivalent client.

Patcher? Downsides? Sounds like it's going to require "persistent online authentication-" i.e. always-on DRM..............
internet connections...disconnects...ugh....
