A call to arms for all white knights

I want to criticize the white knights for not playing enough of the game or at enough depth to realize the issues, and the doomers for ridiculously overstating their case. The truth as always, is somewhere in the middle.

I agree with you, and I do understand the people who are very invested in the game and are now very upset with the delays. I get that some people care more than me and want this game to be the best ever. I also get that some people don't really care either way, and just enjoy what they have now.

The one thing I don't really understand though, is the people who confess they don't play anymore, yet still complain. That's a bit like the white-knight who didn't play the game enough to realise the deeper issues, but in reverse. If the game is dead to them and has been for a while, then what's the point beating a dead horse? :p

While I would have preferred the update to come earlier, I certainly don't need it to come earlier to keep me playing.

To be honest I find all the angst a bit sad. It's only a computer game at the end of the day.

Same here; but if FDev manages to fix the many bugs that currently hold back enjoying existing gameplay then that will keep me engaged for a while. And a break from the game might be good for me too... It's just that whenever I play another game it won't take long until I switch back to ED.

Yeah I don't get why everyone is so hurt over the announcement, I'm well excited. A paid DLC next year. That's normal development life cycle, look at WoW, and other Devs that follow this model.

I will be probably still be playing in 2020, if bgs does get fixed.

Still, I somehow do not feel the need to attack and ridicule every person who express his/her dissatisfaction for the state and future of the game.

That’s an healthy way to enjoy the game. Jumping from a topic to another to defend fd and write “can I have your stuff” is... mentally pathologic imho.

Uhm no, it's making fun of certain posting habits and actually much less insulting then saying that posters are mentally ill.

As a time traveller I've been to 2020 it's all good. Sit back and chill folks ED has this in the bag;)
Spoiler alert the Thargoids win...um sorry shouldn't have let that slip:rolleyes:

Quite telling that the white knights who usually overrun negative threads and comments seem to be struggling to put up a fight or put a positive spin on the latest news.

Not struggling at all, it's just that some people aren't able to follow reasonable arguments. What's exactly bad news about the last announcement? That developing takes time? Already knew that. I am mostly interested in the game getting better and that's exactly what FDEV is doing since release.

As a counterpoint to almost every other thread I thought I would try to gather white knights together in one place. I'm bored of reading the forum just bashing the game. Seriously, just quietly go off and do something else if you really don't like it that much.

As long as this works both ways. I'm bored of white knights coming into every thread that has a legitimate* complaint and bashing the players because somehow all the bugs in the game are their fault (dirty routers notwithstanding).

I'll keep my peanut butter out of your jelly if you keep your jelly out of my peanut butter. Look, I even turned off my signature for this post, honoring the positivity of this thread :D

* I realize there are plenty of negative threads that don't meet this criteria

I don't really see the problem myself, and I'm not a white knight by any stretch.

I am grey. I stand between the haters and the blind faith-ers.

The game is "finished" as far as phase 1 is concerned. All the main game mechanics are there. The galaxy is there. It's fun to play. No major new content until next year because they're working on it, and it's (apparently) going to be game changing and awesome.

I can live with that.

Absolutely. The worst type of threads are about server issues. Since release of the game, the servers struggle every weekend. And usually Frontier admits that something went wrong. Still, people suggest that everyone has faulty internet when 30 different people report the same issue within 1 hour. Blind White Knightism is probably not hurting the game like some people suggest, but it definetely hurts the forums (just like the random dev bashing that also happens frequently).

Blind White Knightism

What I usually consider generic "white knightism" is what you describe as "blind white knightism", in that people who love the game are not IMO "white knights". Heck, I love the game! I just have a hard time finding it under all the bugs.

In fact, I probably am qualified to be in this thread because I'm pretty close to being an FSS White Knight. But even then, I support those who really want the ADS brought back as a separate, optional module not because I want it, but because I think ultimately the game is the players (like Asgard), and happy players make for a "happy" game.

So in honor of this thread, the FSS is amazing!
Minus the bugs, of course :p

Overall, it doesn't matter if FD announced an earlier release of a major DLC or not. The naysayers would still have their forum game of wanting to string up the development to tar and feather for some past undeserved claimed transgressions. Never have seen such a successful and groundbreaking game and devs get so much flak from a segment of players who still got their entertainment time worth in how much was paid for the game. Right, this is only phase 1 of the game of the ten year planning. There seems to be little patience or understanding of the limited resources and priotizing Frontier has to do to survive as an indepedent publisher so it doesn't get bought out by EA or the like. Doesn't matter, ED will still endure by 2020 and beyond and there will still be plenty of new players and others who appreciate the game for the bar-setting special achievement of vision that it is.
