A Guide to Minor Factions and the Background Sim

We have a clear example of a system not triggering a coup now - had a non-controlling faction at over 60 since Dec 31st The controlling faction had a war end yesterday and has gone into expansion today. The faction we have in the high 70s/low 80s has started an expannsion - neither state should prevent a war going pending

Is there a maximum number of fractions that can be made to retreat from a given system? Or put a different way, is there a minimum number of factions a system can have (apart from special cases like the Alliance base in the California nebula)?

I ask as I have seen a system drop from 5 to 3, but no other will go regardless of how low their influence.

yes, you can't get a system below 3 anymore.

Thank you Jane.
If you filed a bug report I might have our CMDR who's been experiencing this add his bit to it.

Made updates and minor corrections to the first section of the original post up through "minor factions attributes". If I made an error scream my name and Ill review. :)

I thought I understood the arrows the accompany pending states. But now I am not sure.

For example: In a system there a several pending states, including Boom and Famine. Boom is good for the faction, famine is bad. If a player took actions to promote the boom and stave off the famine I would expect a successful result to show as a blue upward arrow next to the boom and a red downward arrow next to the famine.

I ask this as I am trying to help a faction stave off famine, running several 650+ tonne runs of various foods, in particular targeting whatever shows as in demand on the market. I've done so many runs I'm making Oxfam look like meals on wheels. However last time I checked it showed both Boom and Famine with a blue upward arrow?

What does this mean? By my understanding it would mean both are becoming more likely. but... all that food! If it means boom is more likely and famine less, that would be rather counter intuitive.

Any ideas?

In general, red = bad, blue = good.

The text should say something like "Faction X is less likely to expect a famine in the future" if you get blue text. Downward arrow indicates it's less likely to happen.

Its here

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/321980-Something-wrong-with-War-triggering

Its started a 4th back to back war (pending) with the same faction in a different system - which may be real bug

Do you have a list of the daily influence data for both factions?
It sounds similar to the bug linked below but without looking at the actual figures it's impossible to know if it's the same problem.

Hmmm you would have thought it would be blue downward arrow then. Oh well, it's nice to know I am not wasting my time then, as this makes all profit.

Does the BGS get its daily update on weekends?

I ask because it's now 18.10 GMT and I can't see a Sunday change having been made to minor faction influence scores. I'm pretty sure the four systems I'm monitoring and running missions in would have had some influence changes. Saturday's change seemed to go through during the afternoon (I was playing in the morning and again in the evening, and saw a change in influence scores between the two sessions). I was running missions on Saturday evening after the change, and again this morning, and some this afternoon, but have seen no system changes today.

I've sensed previously on some weekends that influence scores for minor factions can stay static across one or both days.

no, it gets its daily tick "as usual".

after todays "issues detected" it might come later.

Just to be safe, supply a few of every food type. I've seen stations in famine that still sell food, so it may just be an unfilled demand for one food type that causes the famine. Your focusing on the demand food items probably covers it, but it doesn't hurt to cover all bases.
a few medicines wouldn't hurt either. Outbreak often follows famine.
