Oh Wil, he takes so much crap for so little achievement... :ROFLMAO:

Dear Community Management Team,

I am sure you don't hear this enough, so let me say it one more time:

THANK YOU!!!

Being a CMT can be a very difficult job, as you have a very enthusiastic player base with a large variety in experience level and playing styles. You also have business and tech teams that are your internal "customers". Balancing the needs of all your customers to provide the best service to everyone can be extremely arduous, but also very rewarding. Thank you for all you do and for doing your best to communicate as much as you can within the constraints of your role.

Sincerely,
CMDR av8rgeek
Being a CMT is hard working with regular people.
Being a CMT with THIS INSANE community... heroes!

You know, back when I was in academia, as an awkward and smart kid in the '80s and '90s I could identify with Westley in the show. It was before nerds were... well, they were never cool, but you know what I mean... and before I grew up big and strong, so I have a soft spot for him and the show overall, but I'm not sure he ever really grew up, not that it matters what I think, nor should it.
🍻

was there a posting about what all just apparently went down the last couple months in fdev land that we would understand what was difficult about it?
last i heard it was just random guesses and a whole lot of crickets from fdev.

Seemed more like the idea was to just pretend like nothing abnormal had gone on at all. .

Speaking as a parent, I'm less likely to be overly motivated to do something nice for my kid when she does nothing but whine, throw tantrums, and constantly shout at and insult me.

Human nature, I suppose.
Speaking as a consumer, I'm less likely to be overly motivated to do something for the enterprise I bought a videogame, when it does nothing but cut away features of the development, to release unfinished work, with really cheap design and production, and a lot of bugs, and terrible optimization, every time, being worst than the previous one, and their white knights constantly have a total lack of empathy and doing mockery on those that are disadvantaged, every time: locations, cqc, powerplay, engineers, multicrew, thargoid war, mac, vr, console players, and anyone that can do some critics, in defense for a company with a communication politics that can be so easily improved (not the fault of the CMs, but the Command ).

Human nature, I suppose

It's all the small things that eventually add up really. On their own, it wouldn't be so bad. But it's a death by a thousand needles. Below a couple more examples but spoilered because it's kind of off-topic here.

Just now, I'm visiting someone else's carrier. I do remember that they revised 'FC lighting' a few updates back, but somehow overlooked the below magic light sources that have been introduced with one of the earlier patches post-Odyssey (when you move the camera, they move around as well). Not gamebreaking of course, but beverage shaders aren't either to be fair.

I could give countless more examples but realise this isn't really the right place for it.

Oh, and I sat down at the bar earlier also. Looked at the bartender, the X prompt appeared so I thought I'd try the trading menu. But of course, I couldn't because you have to get up first again. So we can sit down, but nothing else. How did this pass the design phase?
The biggest irony of all this is FDev publicly said ship interiors are off the table due to them being "boring and useless," and yet Update 11 is like...75% boring and useless additions.

The funniest thing is all the cmdr's who agreed with fdev now going ooh and ahh at fleet carrier interiors, with their non working displays and lack of anything new to actually do (except enjoy the new loading screen warp video) and sit on non interactive chairs.
Plus, everyone who doesn't own a fleet carrier gets (hold onto your seat) a new mission type and some non descript performance enhancements, tho' haven't seen much talk about that!
AA is still broken as is lighting and planets are still untouched.
Priorities - it's good to have 'em!

Have you ever been positive about anything, Obi?
That's a cheap shot Zac considering that ObiW used to be positive enough to spend a LOT on cosmetics, except then Odyssey happened and FD did, and still does, deserve criticism for the state of the game.

The game broadly works, and the carrier update is nice, but a year later there are still a lot of issues that often make for a janky experience.

What would restore my faith that FD genuinely cares about improving things would be to follow through on the commitment to improve the issue tracker, because as it stands it works more as an issue blocker and from a customer's perspective is a crap experience.

But then there's been silence about that commitment like there has on many other commitments made and then quietly ignored.

You know what - the more I think about Zac's post/question the more it annoys the :poop: out of me.
So it should, it breaks the forum rules about addressing the post not the poster, I don't think you should let it slide

and fwiw I do remember how positive you were pre-Odyssey

I dunno, I'd sooner suffer some sass than corporate roboticism.
I've seen Zac's sass before and found it funny, but it wasn't personal, and wrong, like this.

Have you ever been positive about anything, Obi?
I expected better Zac , I really did . Bringing up what's is thought to be wrong or against Fdev ( note not the CM team ) and it's an affront ? Give us reason to be positive ..
Some are happy some aren't
Two phrases I use a lot when mentioning Elite
"Great ideas poorly implemented"
"I have lowered my expectations to an acceptable level of disappointment" .
Says it all .

To be fair Obi has put the mostly negative spin on everything for quite a while. Even if it's positive news, it can be twisted. (Heck, Marvin and Eeyore are more optimistic sometimes).

However, the news blackout of the last three months has not been helpful (and you have to blame upper management for that, not the CMs), as I was extremely concerned about the future of the game during that time.

It's obvious now that there was a last push to try and get Odyssey onto the consoles during that time but it was trying to put a pint into a half pint pot. However, what we do need at the moment is a general roadmap that reassures the remaining player base that Odyssey Elite will continue for quite a quite a while. Not something that goes into details but something like the Beyond presentation at the expo which gave the general idea of what was happening but no plot spoilers.

I know that we've got the conclusion of the Azimuth saga and potentially changes to engineering but the community does need some kind of reassurance.
