Havent needed a Steam key in the 3 months I've been playing. I dont want Steam running in the background updating things, using resources and bandwidth.

Would love them to enable steam keys to link ED with it.

u can disable downloading games while u play steamgames.... simple as that huh?
didnt frontier say they didnt want to be on steam as their cut is too high, whilst being on steam would make the game available to more people we have to face facts that they are not making blizzard style bank off this game and every penny they can get needs to go into future development, would being on steam and getting a disproportionate number of negative reviews that cant go over two sentences long about whats wrong in their eyes really help the game, personally i think not.

This..! The game already has problems with 'lag p2p server' related and some stuttering caused by an unfathonable number of reasons.
I've found all my games run slower fps on Steam. As FD will discover, Steam should not be used for this game; giving rise to more of the fore-mentioned problems.

Only thing I would need that Steam could give me would be a Time Played counter. But, since I doubt it'd be retroactive all the way back to Premium Beta, it's low on my list.

Since ED is the only game I currently have installed that isn't on Steam already, yes I would absolutely like a Steam key.

I believe Steam's default behavior is to *not* download anything in the background while a game is running, or at least that's how it's always worked on my system. You have to make a change to allow updates when a particular game is running if you want.

Clearly you don't know how to use steam if you think that. Learn to use it. Steam will never download anything in the background if I'm playing an online game. Seriously do you think steam would work if it did that? You can chose to allow downloads while playing certain games (i.e. ones that are single player) and not to download while playing online games, or even set it to not download ever while playing any game. You can also limit bandwidth, allow downloads only at certain times etc.
Seriously, people need to refrain from making uninformed statements about things they don't understand.
