Notice A statement on cheating in Elite Dangerous.

Regardless what you think of me, giving me a pm showing an example is all I want. Sure, I've called you a saltyboi in a private discord before but I too am not really fussed about that. I genuinely am willing to believe that you can spot a 15% distro buff but I need some proof. And my interest in this is being made aware of these pvpers you claim are cheating all over YouTube. Not some non beef between us. I don't care about winning some argument , I just want to know these pvpers that you can tell are cheating. I also recommend that you put a ticket in to fdev attaching their YouTube channels

And I told you to use a stopwatch.

Amongst other things. A discord full of people going out thier way to demonise other players because they can't win any fights anymore yes. I'm well aware of what goes on in there.

You wanna discuss it further log in for once.

Just so we're 100% clear here.

I have removed posts that are off topic/trolling and flaming etc.

At no point have I or any of the other moderators been instructed to remove (censor) posts.

In fact in the many years I've been part of the moderating team I've never been asked to do anything like that.

I'd suggest not making comments that you've no proof of in the future.

Thanks.

With all due respect Mr T, removing a post is censoring :) That being said I hear where you are coming from too.

I'd make a suggestion; Instead of removing a post, you edit the post [redacted] Reason; Off topic, trolling, or whatever..

Once an audience hears that posts are being removed then it becomes a 'did they remove the post' or not type thing.

So we are talking about F.D. warning players about the possible consequences of using software patches etc., to improve their /game/ships etc.? Correct?

We are not talking about 'combat logging' or other in game options. Correct? If so, such posts, would be off topic. Correct?

So, I asked this before: Where do we stand, if we use the HUD display changer? I would love to use it myself, but to thick to know how and at the same time. I have never had it confirmed, that it is within the rules, that I agreed to when I signed up, for this game with F.D.

And that's part of the problem.. Some software is ok.. aka Voice Attack, but other automation software is not. Nowhere isit stated that VA is ok, but it is assumed it is, because Mr D uses it.

The EULA is vague at best and useless at worst. But... I think anyone thinking that modifying sip stats is not outright cheating is missing a few brain cells.

If they are cool with modifying game files, why won't they simply add a customization option under Graphics with three sliders for RGB?
Because it doesn't work flawlessly and if they put it in the menu they are responsible. Same as why Bethesda leaves many options in the ini rather than officially support them.

Rather than go through every pvper on YouTube it would be easier if you pointed me in the right direction. The burden of proof is on you. Otherwise it's a bit unreasonable of you to go on a public forum saying there is evidence on youtube loads of pvpers are cheating with a 15% distro buff.

Regards the private discord stuff, I don't know why you keep bringing it up. All I ever said was you were a saltyboi. It wasnt a campaign to demonise you. But if you can stop bringing that up it would be great as you being a saltyboi is offtopic

Maybe the reason cheating is not a "The sky is falling!" issue for me is that there are so many other bugs that negatively affect my game regardless of mode or activity, way more than any cheating. Funny thing is that if I complain about said bugs, most of the people in this thread are quick to defend Frontier and to tell me and others to shove off, but when it's something that affects you, you're suddenly a more hateful lot towards Frontier than I've ever been..

I think it is more that cheating is known to have ruined many games whereas your grievances are more specific.

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
Feedback on moderation is welcome, but this isn't the thread for it. We have a forum feedback section where that would be perfect, or folks can always send messages to community@frontier.co.uk and/or message the CM team here on the forum.

Duc_Mallard and Voracity_T - please do take it to private message, especially if you're debating perceived insults on Discord.

Voracity_t I can't log in I don't have a PS4 cmdr. If you're not willing to pm me proof I'm gonna have to assume your statement was false

To better target the cheats, it might be wise to follow the players who play the role of pirate, criminal in the game.

It is a personality trait that could make the link between the virtual and the reality.

However, no misunderstanding, all the pirates and the criminals in the game are not cheaters, of course.

:)

This is hogwash.

How about we target explorers in detail instead? Space is big and they love their long range ships. Must be totally impossible to resist the urge to crank it up even more.

I support a feature suggested by many other CMDRs: an in-game message that tells when a CMDR has been banned, what type of ban, for how long, and what crime caused the ban.

This can even be done in a lore-friendly manner so as to not be obtrusive: "CMDR Joe's Pilots Federation license has been suspended for two weeks for utilizing illicit hackware."

FDev releasing statistics, as mentioned by other posters, literally does nothing for anyone's peace of mind.

Ofc, real-time ban messages won't work if FDev doesn't have a realtime algorithm countering cheats and hacks.

A real explorer needs the progressivity, patience, and difficulty to truly appreciate a discovery and feel a sense of gratification.

Yes in general a cheater is completely indifferent to the opinion of others.

A message announcing a very big bounty on his head would also be interesting when he comes back in the game.
