Bad Bargain..

"No more!" The commander pleaded, his face bloodied and bruised
"Please... No more!" he begged as another blow struck.

"The deal was made commander, you broke it" his aggressor raised his fist once more.

"This is on you" another blow struck.

The commander fell to the floor, his strength and will taken by the final blow.
He was done, his morals had betrayed him.

The bargain was simple, bring back cargo canister 20987-98 and get paid... It was so simple that it should have been obvious it wouldn't be.

"I don't sell children !" the commander spluttered with his last breath.

It was either the Ultimate Bargain, or a petulant sheep being told not to baa again. I was going to work Phil Drabble into the latter, if I could make it work in the Elite Universe. Maybe next time.

I did promise (threaten) you a pun and so here it is. To whoever's hosting the poll, please don't include this Drabble. It is just a bit of fun.


Aftermath

The Hogmanay party was over. The Thargoid and Fer-de-Lance was full of miserable pirates who mulled out the door to sail their star galleons out into deep space.

The bar was even less tidy than usual. It looked empty despite Sven still there with the bar regulars, "You know how forgetful hungover pirates get?"

Frank nodded, "Dark corners?"

They started combing through the upturned tables and broken glass covered floor, heading towards the darker recesses of the bar. Dar'koba was the first to find one, a Reagan Repeater.

The January sails are a good time for a bar gun hunt.

The Stock Adjustment

Don Stravo's man inspected the sedated slaves.

"I was promised 50," Stravo said to the trader in the ill-fitting suit. "There are only eighteen here."

"There was a, um, stock adjustment en-route. But I will sell them at 30Cr a head. A bargain, no?"

Stravo stared at the trader. "Alright,” he said at last, “you got a deal."

Credits changed hands and the slaves were taken away. The two ships decoupled and Stravo's jumped away.

The trader hit the shipwide address system.

"It's done," he said. "Stravo took them. We're free!"

The other 49 people on board cheered as one.

Youe remix sounds great! I thought that it was going to secure Ian this week's win... until I read Gibbonici's Drabble


And thanks for stepping up to the plate. I can see that your fake tan and onesie were applied in a hurry. The tan should be more even than that. It looks a little like a wood grain effect.

One Careful Owner

Silver had been reluctant to sell his ship, but he needed the credits fast. The young punk sensed his desperation and had beaten the price down heavily.

Silver considered his predicament. He had enough credits to buy a new identity. That would keep the bounty hunters off his back for a while, but with such a large bounty, it wouldn't be long before they found him again.

As the Hispaniola cleared the station it was destroyed in a barrage of lasers. Silver laughed, the young fool had been so pleased with his bargain that he hadn't registered change of ownership.

I finally thought I had a great drabble in production and ready for competition. It turned out to be a brain bogey. I wrote it and when I read the print, a toddler had apparently taken over the keyboard. It was more or less unintelligible. Not even fit for the bargain bin.

I'll proceed to leave the drabbling to the champions here also in the future.

Hmm, Drablr puts it at 99 (it said 100 before!) and Open Office claims it's 97. You're right about the hyphenated words, I always presumed word counters took that into account but neither of those counter do. Wordcounttool.com does but that seems to be offline now.

Anyway, I've done some tinkering and reposted. Let me know if it's not 100 and I'll tinker a second time.
