Hello Splendour,

Nice entry you have there - but just 99 words. Could you find one more to add to it to bring it up to the nice round 100 number ?

The bell has rung

We have quite a collection of pretty Drabbles for the poll which goes up tomorrow. All beauties and not a single homely one amongst them.

Entries so far are

01 - Gibbonici - The Home Fires
02 - Frank - Every Day's a Holiday
03 - Rog - Home time
04 - Philip Coutts - Home at Last
05 - Darren Grey - Home Creation
06 - The Lone Gunman - Home is where the bar is
07 - Psykokow - A Hero's Return
08 - Scorpio - Rovers Return
09 - Bikky - Getting Home
10 - Eyota Winterwalker - Nothing to write home about.
11 - Ian Phillips - Home is where the heart is.
12 - Cassius - The Return
13 - Splendour - Homing
14 - Azdour - The Last Questions
15 - Insanephoton - Coming Home

the above have the necessary 100 words. Splendor, ....
Welcome to the addictive pastime of watching people vote for your stories :)

If anyone sees any mistakes they know where to find me.

There's still plenty of time. The poll won't go up until late tonight, but if you are cutting it fine then a wee note here to say you've got an entry will ensure you don't miss the bus.

The Last Questions

When people ask me what makes me a good Imperial Senator I would tell them three things:

Firstly everything you do is for the Empire. Sleep, eat, work, family, breathe and sweat for the Empire. Give 100% for the Empire and it will treat you well.

Secondly a true Imperialist never listens to their heart as it opposes the mind.

As a Senator you must live by the saying ''the heart is where the home is'. For that is where it should be left.

Lastly, never bore a Senator with trivial questions because it interferes with their Imperial duties.

Guards!

Come and have a go if you think you're hard enough

A lovely little twist to that age-old homily Azdour. It seems that the last few entries are the ones where people have had a time to think of a good story.

"The Last Questions" is our 14th Drabble. And they all now have the requisite 100 words.

Come on! There must be a few more Drabbles laying in the the attics of your minds. There are still 6 slots open and the poll goes up tonight.

For one of your stories I won't just hold the door with the engine running. I'll park the bus up and have a cigarette and the read of a newspaper.

Coming Home

My heart leaps as I finally see that familiar blue dot. I could jump straight there, but what's a few minutes after all the time I've been away? I prefer to savour the approach. I engage supercruise and the dot swells. Now it's a disc, growing every second. I can see different colours now. The disc is now a ball and I can see the tenuous skin of the atmosphere. Familiar landforms appear below me. Down there is everything that I've been dreaming of for the last six months, my wife, my child, my home. It's good to be back.

Sorry about the delay, I sort of had something and then it changed. maybe I should blame whoever set the topic... oops that was me wasn't it:eek:

I have nothing this week.

I tried to write (wait for it) an olfactory based one, as there's nothing quite so memory invoking as a specific smell, but I couldn't get it to work.

Respect to all those who have, and for all the usual twists we like to see.

I had an olfactory Drabble written for Homes as well <evil grin> It's a shame you didn't enter this week. I've enjoyed all your previous Drabbles.

But just look at that rabbit Insanephoton pulled out of the hat! It had the hairs on the back of my neck standing up. it was well worth the wait.

Glad you got one in before the lock IP.

Hope to see one from you next week Mr Y, whiff-based or otherwise!

:p

To all those who doubted me!! HAH!

So the new topic is HAVOC... yes Havoc...

Ambition's debt is paid

The Empire was the unwelcome visitor at the door. Sirius was an independent system and they were more than willing to show what sort of firepower their wealth could buy.

Ranks upon ranks of their own types of warships: Mastiffs, Boxers, and Terrier fighters. All straining at the leash. All ready to rip out the throats of the flotilla the Emperor had sent to "strengthen ties." The captains only awaited the code word.

The Senator's tone was now much more diplomatic. The Emperor would require just the smallest of tributes.

The Admiral's single loud cry into the intercom was "Havoc!"

Wow Frank, you got in early! and with a clasic reference as well.

Now i'll have to think of something else. :(

This might depress you even further but there's been a few times when I've come to the thread to write my Drabble and I've found you've already had the idea.

This must mean that we share the same taste in Drabbles.
