Pete was a theatrical agent. His most famous client was Biff, who played the sort of space pilot that don't take no nonsense from nobody, in the TV serial "The Chosen Few".
As an example of either sheer stupidity or method acting, Biff had punched one of the network executives in a fracas over some food. It wasn't the first time he'd done something idiotic. The network had threatened to pull the show and sack Biff.
The executive eventually accepted the apology. Pete had plenty of practice placating people. He phoned Biff with the good news, "The show's on... Phew!"

The Frustrations of a Wannabe RC Model Boat Skipper
In me dotage I bought a boat.
The blurb said "Almost ready to float".
I only had to add the keel; the boat would then swim like an eel.
I also had to fix the mast, then she would take off very fast.
There was a problem with control - it wouldn't fit through the small hole
It was an RC boat, you see, that I had bought for doting me.
The servos both were in their place, fitting most bits had gone apace,
But I could find no simple way to bring the battery into play.
The receiver also wouldn't sit - I almost had a raging fit.
My boat would never make the fleet, so I returned to play Elite.
