Its a repurpoused warp feild that causes quantum friction with the existing warp field of the opposing ship to collapse their field and pull them out of supercruise. Smaller ships are more maneuverable and can stay centered through the interdiction tunnel easier than larger vessels can.Small ships are more maneuverable, they can land on any posts, the price for these ships and fines is much less than for big ones, and they can also jump further than big ones!
And all because they are small and have a smaller mass.
And I don’t understand how they have so much power in them that they can pull out a big ship from a super cruise.
If the interdiction is successful, the ship's warp field collapses and drops out of supercruise. The interdicting vessel drops out with them thanks to the tunnel.
If it fails, the interdiction tunnel rebounds on the interdicting ship like a rubberband and their own warp field collapses immediately.
In a nutshell its like driving a car through a brick tunnel that twists and turns and gets narrower. And as the car grinds against the walls it looses its ability to retain its momentum.
