Air support for SRV

Little Story: I was about to discover a guardian ruin. Before landing my conda I thought I could launch my fighter to have it arround just for a little help if I get attacked by a drone. Then I realized it is not possible to land, when a fighter is out.

I realize that it is not intended to have air support on ground missions. Unless you have a player friend who is in a fighter. I also know that it is not really necessary because guardian drones are not that hard at all.

But I feel it is rather illogical that you can't do it. In real life It would be exactly what I would do. Ask my crewmen for air support or surveillance while exploring a dangerous alien site.

So here is my request: In the menu where you can recall your ship there should be a "call fighter support"-button.

I had loads of fun with my keelback out at the Guardian ruins while my son was in his SRV. I used the SLF to protect him from the drones though you need to use fixed weapon SLF's because you can't target the drones unless you are right on top of them and they don't show on the ship's radar either in most cases so I'd imagine it would be difficult for a NPC fighter pilot to help in this situation.

That said, I support being able to deploy a fighter for air cover or just to have an NPC copilot manning your ship and providing cover while you're out in the SRV

If your ship has a Point Defence mounted on the top it'll already provide an anti-missile shield against the Guardian Sentinels.
Park it about 1km from the site and it'll take down missiles without being targeted itself. Park it closer if you've got decent shields.

Cool idea. Nice tactics. But as stated before, I am not concerned about drones and their missiles. I think of a whole new mission-style.

Just imagine there would be ground missions in which you have to steal some artefact, which is guarded by some unpassable defences, maybe gates, that have to be triggered or disabled by a fighter. So you have to use the fighter command "attack may target" while targeting some unreachable switch, and your fighter will hit it. Gate opens and you have a small time window to proceed to the next area. Just something like that.

Anyway, the base idea is, to combine SRV and Fighter gameplay. Basically tiny vehicle missions. Leave your motherships outside. Could be done by implenting strong defense turrets, that will only attack lager vessels. So you'll have to combine srv and fighter in a smart way.

That sounds like fun indeed. But besides of that I would like to see the possibility to launch a fighter while in an SRV because it seem illogical that it's impossible to do so. I mean you are able to dismiss and recall your mothership. But if you ask your hired crewmember to help out with a fighter, he would say "no, that's impossible"? Feels like some kind of command refusal to me. A case for court-martial.

I love this idea. It does make sense that you would like air support.

Maybe you could have a crew member patrol the area and then once they detect an enemy they rain heck onto them from your ship.

Well, I think air support from your ship would be too overpowered. A ground mission has to be a ground mission. I think support from your fighter would be just right. Would be also fun if you could swap seats from srv to fighter. If you get lost, you could just switch to your fighter and scout the site from above. Then beck to the rover.
