I was thinking about the recently discovered 3rd thargoid crash site... We often see convoys carrying the unknown Artefacts to unknown destination, and at the crash side were 2 ships - an Anaconda and Type 9. Both are seen in convoys, now there are normally 3 ships in said convoy aren't there? So unless I've miscounted the ships at the site, and this theory of the convoy ships being these then there is a ship that survived the encounter.
I haven't seen any reply to this, so I'll give it a shot.
The UA convoys consists of 3 ships (2 Anacondas and 1 T9) iirc. Since the site has atleast 4 human ships, there aren't any missing. There is actually an extra T9 there, which would explain why there are commodities strewn around the site. The UA convoys never carried regular commodities, so they had to come from somewhere else.
So, yes, this could be a UA Convoy and an extra T9. The placement of the UAs are a bit strange however (right in front of the Alien ship), especially if we assume that all ships (human and alien) crashed and were rendered immobile at the time of impact. How would then the UAs move to that spot? And the 2nd crash site also has UAs, but there are no other human ships there, only an SRV wreck (like the 3rd site).
The crash sites are a bit strange, in that they are all different (1: Only a wreck. 2: A wreck, UAs, SRV. 3: Wreck, UAs, SRV, human ships). It's like they are "escalating" and that makes it unclear for us whether we can attach them to something already known, like the UA Convoys. It's a bit confusing tbh.
Has anyone else noticed that the ancient artifact, the ones you get by shooting the spires that shoot up out of the ground at the ruins, when you jettison them they don't just fall and roll around like all other cargo does. They stand upright in a fixed position where you left them. Just thought this lended itself well to the theory that they were some kind of activation key.
Someone mentioned this early on after the discovery of the ruins. Given our lack of ability to easily place objects anywhere specific, it seems a bit strange for FDev to add a placement mechanic to the puzzle. Jettisoning things from the SRV isn't really accurate atm. So to me, it seems that the "stand up feature" is more to make sure it stays upright on top of the "beacon."
^^^ This. Indeed.
Our Alien Friends 0,0,0 should be Col 70 Sector FY-N c21-3, as we already discovered thanks to the UP.
That said, I do not think that UA/UP and Ruins are related/have the same origin.
The last sentence there is important. We need to keep the different mysteries separate, atleast until we can find an undisputable connection between them. There currently isn't any tangible connection between the ruins, UA/UPs, or Barnacles. There actually isn't any connection between any of the three (except the loose connection between UA/UP corrosion and MetaAlloys).
So please don't confuse things by mixing info from one into the other.
Also, even though the math used to find that "Alien origo" was impressive, it is currently at the same place as Mengy's theory; unproven. The former cannot be proven because it's in a locked sector, so it's an assumption that we are waiting to check. Until then, I would be careful about using it as a reference for anything else in the game.
