Alien archeology and other mysteries: Thread 9 - The Canonn

You know on leaving site 2 in solo with all beacons "lit" and intact (sight was in darkness) - it's so much easier to see :) - anyone figure a way to light the beacons from orbit should get a special prize :)
- oh that would be hilarious if all this time we were searching and FDev were wondering how we missed the "obvious" switch for the "landing" lights :p

Those beacons keep puzzling me, either they have a specific purpose beyond giving us a relic, or it's just for effect, the latter would be disappointing to me.

Hey folks, if one of your theories holds true I really buffled and concerned of the nature of this quest.
In order to solve one of your fantastic theories you need a master degree in mathematics and astronomy.
I cannot fancy that FDevs are going the route.
This is a game after all and the quest should be solvable for the average gamer out there.
I still guess there is a much simpler solution for this hunt but we cannot see the wood for the trees.

We don´t need quests that can be solved in 1 day, because we always will consume content faster than FD is able to bring us, even if they have zillions of developers. And besides that, this quest is only 0,00001 % of the whole game, there is enough stuff out there that is solvable for an average, or even below average player.

I think that this quest, the Formidine mystery and the Alien interdictions are exactly what we needed and I hope FD will continue to bring us more long-term stuff into the game.

Besides that: Someone posted a theory about coordinates a couple of posts before. As far as I can tell there´s nothing to see at the specific places, 1 more system to go though.

Thank You CMDR. I dont think they are relevant for solving the riddle, but maybe for lore-wise. Kinda reminds me on Dresden Codex.

If you only saw two pics try again as I had to re-upload and edit my original post
All 3 should be there now :)

You know I was joking at first - but, I think next trip out I'll fit detailed scanner as well as advanced scanner - make sure I have at least 4 of every relic, totem etc in the hold and approach a fresh know site and try honking etc - if it works and the beacons "pop" up I don't know whether to laugh or cry :p

Agreed, but we do need something to keep folk interested, this thread is getting slower and slower by the day.

finding more alien ships, alien carcasses perhaps skeletons, one of the things that kept me going in other games was small things, I use Skyrim as example, finding a trinket and note, nothing major, but it kept me going along the quest, it maintained a connection to past events.

sorry that I cant check myself (was yesterday on site 3 but forgot) as currently transferring my ASPX to Colonia, but could someone on Site 3 have a short glimpse to the obelisks while scanning ?
If I remember right, on Site 1 always the middle of the 3 symbol groups was giving changing patterns, the upper and lower were static?
If on Site 3 now the middle one keeps static and either upper or lower is giving patterns that might tell some ?
All 3 are changing.

Maybe we should "ask" the dude at FeliceDock to figure out how to trigger those from Orbit... i'm sure with all the data and Relics we've brought back, he can figure out a wave pattern we can trigger with our scanners... *cough*

I generaly agree with most of the points you make, but you seem to contradict yourself here - in that you reiterate that Ram Tah says the obelisk layout is important, but 99.99% of the thread lookling at geometry and layout is done with a lack of clues.
Can you clarify please?

Ah, I meant the layout/geometry of the ruins themselves (the walls/mounds). There doesn't seem to be any suggestion (in the text we've discovered) that these contain any information.

But the *obelisk* layout - that is explicitly called out as important.
- it's the element we know most about (as site 3 gives us lots of new information).
- it's the element that FDev re-drew when site 1 was patched.
- it's the element that no-one has even the faintest idea about.

- there is one puzzle which is plain weird (the solution to the pilar base has a trivial solution, but the solution lacks context).

Are you referring to the patterns on he base probably kind of fitting onto the glyphs as an overlay? Or do you know something that I do not know?
