Alien ship on ground at barnacle spotted!!!

Been trying to provide some air cover in my IEagle at Pleiades Sector OI-T C3-7 A 6 -42.77 / -21.7 - so far the only hostiles showing up have been in corvette's and cutter's not alien ships - so mind your six out there. On my own so could only give the srv drivers a few moments to scatter while I distracted the big guys, off for the night now - will resume air patrols tomorrow any assistance welcome (small ships preferred - about time we counteracted hostile large ships with swarms of little uns  )

I've seen this term once or twice around here.. isn't this one of Madonna's fashion accessories?

That thing there is a JELLYCONE, so named because it resembles both a jellyfish and a pinecone :).
I coined the name for that reason, and I'm pleased to see that it's beginning to stick :D.

Your assumption is that they are the Invaders I take it ?

Oh have you confirmed the planet where they reside? No? Like I said, logic dictates you presume hostile intentions until they prove otherwise. You can have your sciency, tradery, explororey kumbaya with the flowers once they actually communicate

Not so much as invading as just encroaching. People encroaching on other people and animals has never really ended well. So from our history it would be simply smart we be prepared.

And trust us, we are aware of who found it and in time will be aware that he isn't from Cannon. However, the video they used probably fit better with them because and came of as more a documentarian/research type of video. Canonnn, wishes no harm on any of these things and in fact a strongly against taking any actions against the ships until more is known. Yes there was harvesting of meta alloys, but you can blame Canonn for doing what must be done in the name of science. We don't know if there is a connection between ships and UA's and UP's. However scientists need to study and the only way to properly study these things were to have specimens to study. Well, unfortunately those specimens damage ships, so we needed a way to protect ourselves and sadly the only way FDev let us do that was making us use meta-alloys. So we really were left with no other option then to shoot those meta-alloys. Now sometimes in science a few eggs need to be broken. But ultimately the goal of Canonn is to be peaceful in all things, hell we have first contact protocols. We don't shoot first, now does that mean everybody adheres, no. But those that don't adhere aren't trully following the spirit of Canonn. Again, nobody is trying to take the discovery away from you guys, it's just perhaps you need to up your game in the notoriety department and video creation department.

We understand, we're not going to dictate what Cannon can and cannot do. We are however different and more peaceful in our methods of collection and study. I merely want to highlight that.

I don't have stakes in anything to do with player groups. But rep for the roleplay.

That is the fun of it!

I don't get the reference. Logic dictates an defensive posture until the invader makes their business known. It's on them to state intentions. If no intentions are stated, they are hostile. Assuming anything else is an error that would cost lives in the real world

Your assumption is that they are the Invaders I take it ?

Our point exactly. However do not think we are defenseless. We just don't believe there is a reason to poke the bear to use an old Earthling euphemism.

I also question that.

The barnacles were there first; we humans are the ones who stumbled upon them. There seems to be a connection between the jellycone ships and the barnacles. So therefore I'd reckon we might be the invaders here... :)

The endless white knighting. No comms, no diplomacy, no advisories. The first contact is them ripping humans out of hyperspace which is a violent threatening action. If they are indeed an intelligent life flying a ship then they can communicate. Choosing not to is hostile. If they are just animal ships then they have no ownership over anything, and are a dangerous species that needs subdued and researched

Nice to see another well-done theatrical presentation.

Hopefully it will receive universal/galactic interactive release in the near future.

Are you suggesting that we...probe them?

I just got back from the Maia CG. (Strange outcome)
Went to the Merope canyon and there are 2 Barnacle fields. One is "Get outa here!" And the other is a double. Took 4 Meta alloys. Glad big daddy Thargoid wasn't checking on his eggs!

Anyone else had any luck triggering the aliens to return?

No and been on the ground since 2100h uk time. I'm over at a site in the Witch Head Sector as I want to see if they are not confined to given (scripted/targeted) area. Giving up around 0630h game time (if I can stay awake that long)

My thought is that the activate when the instances is loaded. So if it doesn't happen within a few minutes of landing you can bet it won't happen at all. Again, just my theory. My first incident happened after I had been switching back and forth from Solo to Open, about the 5th or 6th switch it triggered.

Mode switching?

eww Frontier, please no.

I could be wrong though. That is how it worked for me, but I'm not sure if someone just hung out how long it would take or if it would happen again at all. We need more data on events, and times they appear, I know somebody is collecting that stuff now so perhaps a pattern will arise from there.
