All pirates are griefers!

I'm talking about these NPC pirates. Remember the good ol' days when an NPC would pull you over and give you n seconds to drop x amount of cargo? Not any more! Every single time I get pulled over by a pirate (who comments on my "juicy cargo"), it's instant smack, quack, give the duck a wack! I submit to the interdiction and come to a complete stop, no weapons, no boost, no FSD, and yet these griefer NPCs immediately open fire giving me lines like "So you choose death!" (no I didn't) and "Hahahahaha!" just like a PvP griefer. The only thing they are missing is the purple hair! Heck, they even have griefer weapons - frag cannons almost every time...

It's bad enough we have players who are ruining legitimate piracy, but now the NPCs are giving us honorable pirates a bad name as well! Obviously this must be a bug, as it didn't use to be this way, but I do not like it one bit. Fix this, Frontier!

On the bright side, all cops are now magical and show up INSTANTLY when I'm attacked, so I guess that's something...
We certianly could do with better interaction with NPC pirates and some do as you say, but only some, and the cops usually only show up that quickly in high sec systems (there is a difference between security levels)

I did some local deepcore mining lately in my Keelback, a few tons of tritium, LTDs and various other stuff when I got disconnected. After logging back in, a pirate in a viper mk 3 approached me and asked me to drop cargo - 1t of my LTDs.

First instinct was fight (bad idea, only mining equipment on my 4 hardpoints) then flight (slow, masslocked, and new pirate when I drop back in probably). Then I tried something unexpected, and dropped the NPC his precious cargo - after all, it was just 1 LTD, I didn't do it for the money anyhow (I'm filthy rich, nearly half a billion in cash, and I already have my carrier).

Things went quite well, he stopped shooting, then turned to running when the police showed up (did I mention it was a high security system where I was allied with the controlling faction?), leaving the cargo behind, which I promptly scooped back up.
 
I've also noticed in my Cutter that NPC interdictions have become more difficult. Always winning with Dangerous
to Elite Anacondas and Type-10s now Elite only Fer de Lances and Krait MK IIs come after me. I'll need new tricks.
Try to collide with them. Good ramming with Cutter takes fight out of FDL fast.
