Alpha Is Out

I would guess that if you have backed the game already with £100, you could still upgrade to alpha. I would drop them an e-mail.

Unfortunately not :( Just dug out Michael's post from a thread on the Private Backers forum:

For those who don't have that level of access:

We announced the cut-off two weeks ago, unfortunately we can't support both systems so upgrading pledges is no longer possible.

Michael

I can understand it, and they gave us fair warning :)

The backers who upgraded before the original app closed will have all their pledges and upgrades stored by Frontier. The new store is completely separate from the original and some parts were not transfered over.

Michael has stated that the are all on file though, so no-one should lose out.

With the original Backers app now closed if you wish to upgrade to Alpha it will cost you the full amount.

Unable to start alpha+Tech support error.

Hi all,
After installing Elite: Dangerous and clicking play, I get this error:
"The Application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142)".

Apparently the way to fix it is running it in compatability mode. Anyone else able to help with this as running it in compatability mode. It fails for the launcher but works for the elite dangerous exe file in the product folder. Though, even though that works, it needs to log in so it ends up disconnecting me. Problem is with the launcher.

Also, I try to log in to the tech support via the E: D launcher and no matter how many times I get the security verification code right, it still says it's wrong.

Shok.

Possible to download alpha as single package?

I have awful broadband speeds at home. I'd like to benefit from having awesome broadband at work. Any chance, without installing the client on my pc, that I could download the entire set of files as zip or whatever?

Just asking, though I think it most unlikely for many reasons, but still... you don't ask, you don't get!

Cheers,

Kroy.

I'm only pledged at 2nd round beta, but I am excited for all you Alpha guys! Seeing the comments here about how polished this Alpha is makes me feel at ease that the final product will be at least this level of quality :)

Now.... will some of you PLEASE stream some videos or capture and upload to youtube?

seems silly to not allow us to upgrade to alpha if we already backed, thats godknowshowmany x 100 quid lost.

but i accept that

Please head over to the ALPHA Forums and make a proper report there mate! You should be able to see the ALPHA Forums within the Forums Overview : http://forums.frontier.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=29

Just completed Recon Wing, got nailed several times trying to complete that one!!!

Its already feeling like the most crisp combat I have felt in a game for a long time I'm getting a strong feeling of immersion. This is so very polished for an alpha Off to try Wolf Pack Tactics:)

They should have hired me to do the data transfer from one system to another. The address fields are a bit messed up and seems I am not the only one.

There should also have been a warning about what you will see as it does not match the pledge level, only matches what you can buy in the store.

It would also be nice, seeing as the alpha is so expensive, if you could download a very small sample program that would test your machine for suitability.

Overall though, great to see such enthusiasm and initial great reports. Thanks Frontier for the one and only time in my life I momentarily considered buying a PC.

Do you have thruster control? Is there inertia? How do the weapons feel, is overheating an issue? :S
