Now...the term "LOL" is something I never really use since quite often it's not true. People seldom actually "laugh out loud" when using the phrase.

If I was to release a new piece of software, I would not do so on the tail end of the week (release Monday so you have the full week to deal with issues). If it's not out today then it won't be this week.

I'm not complaining or anything... just concerned that the whole release schedule maybe be jeopardized if the the alpha starts too late.

Good, is it? I've started dinking around in Starbound myself. Having fun so far, but only got a couple of hours in (including a reset the other day). It sounds similar to Darkout, which I'd not heard of before.

It's a bit more limited then Starbound, since you are restricted to only one planet at a time and there is no multiplayer (yet)... but the game systems (crafting/research/equipment) are more in-depth, the survival aspect it has going is nice (got a strong Pitchblack vibe) and it looks much prettier.

The first thing the devs will test is explosions, so after 10 secs. of gameplay your ship explodes in a great big fireball and they get the last laugh for putting up with backers whining over why alpha isnt out yet

By following that logic you could also argue that releasing it next week is a bad idea since that means it only gives them a week before everyone goes away on Christmas holidays and therefore we shouldn't expect it until after Christmas.

That's not an argument I'm ready or willing to make!

So alpha WILL be released this week!!!! Even if I have to will it into existence. Or I'll just have to become a "dull/mad boy" and think I have gotten hold of it anyway!

So personally I will be playing alpha this week, but it's up to FD if it's going to be the real alpha or the one you only find in the realm of rainbows and unicorns.

True... after Christmas it's pretty much January already - first round beta time. Either FD have miscalculated a little there or they are pretty confident that alpha testing will only take a couple of days.
