Alpha Release date speculation thread

I probably have had too many bad experiences in the past with other games, but this situation has me a bit worried. Are they not announcing a date yet because they are still not sure when they are able to start the alpha, or is it all just a tactic to keep us even more excited?
I hope they just enjoy seeing us suffer the wait.:D

Your not Alexi Sayle (I hope that's how you spell his name, but I think you know the one I mean) by any chance.

I think it goes, "In space, no one can eat ice cream"

I can

December this year wasn't it? That's what the KS page currently says anyway. Who can say whether this will slip, or be brought forward? <fingers crossed>

I would think if it was going to be pushed back it would have been announced. The dev video where DB confirms that is only a few weeks old iirc.

With only a few hours left until they close the backers pledges the team have amounted over £2.1 million from over 40k backers. Do you think they are likely to treat us with a release date for alpha next week?

Wouldn't that make a huge bunch of supporters very happy for the weekend? I might even treat the kids to a special day out (assuming alpha doesn't start first of course!)

I only managed to pledge enough for 2nd round beta, but I'm excited for all you guys who are in the alpha!

Good luck guys, and have heaps of fun (hunting bugs) :D

Hard to miss a release date that you haven't published. We've seen the pre alpha build in the dev diary but we have no idea what they'll really be including in it.

Personally I am looking forward to it immensely (spamming the F5 key all day today) as I feel pretty honoured to be involved in the latest sequel. Elite started my interest in computing and I know I wouldn't have ended up doing the job I do now if it wasn't for that original spark.

Catch 22 though if there is bugs it'll ruin some peoples weekends. Whenever they release an Alpha they need to be on staff to create any hotfixes and such to respond to any major bugs. So doing it on a Friday would mean working the weekend and late nights. I don't see them releasing it today unless they are uber confident it works fine. They had their christmas party yesterday so they are all hung over today I doubt they'd work late tonight.

With all this itchyness and wishing ed was here... All I've got to say is....

I wonder how many people will hit these forums this evening and sit there refreshing multiple tabs on different forums in vain hope of seeing an 'IT'S OUT' thread pop up.

With the amount of new forumites, and new threads popping about, it'd be easier F5ing your email.. :D

F5? F5?! People still use F5? What is this? I can right-click and select refresh, or even click refresh on the tool bar, a lot faster than reaching for the F5 key!

F5 pressers remind me of people who look at the keyboard, and use one finger, when they type ;)
