An investigation into Frontier's actions on Combat Logging

Can someone please provide me a list of SDC forum names so I can block them and no longer have to see all this whining please?

Well I'm glad this is just a game and no one's getting too worked up over it. You should hold a rally. Maybe invite your alts.

PS I'm disappointed there's no poll.

The people on this thread who are advocating, and even admitting to, combat logging need a reality check. If you look at this page you will notice that the game is explicitly advertised as a PvP game, the line "or just hunt other Commanders" is clear evidence that FDev intend for commanders to be able to engage and kill each other. FDev have also made it clear that combat logging is an exploit and so people who do that are cheaters and ought to be banned. FDev usually have pretty good community relations but on this occasion they have dropped the ball.

The sense of entitlement that some of the posters are displaying is breathtaking, yes people can kill you and yes you may not know why. This does not make them a real life sociopath. For instance, people who are complaining that someone may kill them when they are carrying a load of exploration data are failing to consider that there may be a good gameplay reason for them doing so. The Cmdr who killed them may have been working the BGS in that system by undermining the controlling faction and want to stop players from cashing their exploration data in as that will give the controlling faction a boost.

People who combat log are preventing this and other entirely legitimate types of game play (e.g. piracy). This will only hurt the game in the long run.

You may be shocked to discover that the whining on the forums does not come from any of our members. SDC is about doing things, we leave the whining and pearl clutching to the professionals here.

Trouble is the issues run a bit deeper than that.

I mean getting on for 50% of people think there should be no punishment for combat logging, why is that?

My feeling is (maybe I am biased) that a large proportion feel there should be no punishment for combat logging, because there is no punishment for griefing. It's as straightforward as that.

I don't think this is just a one sided issue, if it's being seen that way then I would say you need to open your eyes and look at the big picture.

Great that's one name.

Bye!

Can you add me too?

Many players, just simply don't understand this deep and super complicated game mechanic. It's easier for them to cry and whine on the forums when they lose 1m cr.

Without those people we wouldn't be able to enjoy this great game! When you really think about it, they complete us, they cry and whine and we nourish ourselves with joy from their misfortune!

ah what a wonderful dangerous galaxy!

However - the only thing the pew-pew groups do and achieve is filling lulzbuckets.

"Look how important we are and the influence we have on the Devs!"

It's simply amusing.

Exactly. People, myself included, have been asking FD to implement something, anything, to even the playing field in regards to griefers. I'm still advocating for marking murderers as such and making them visible on the galaxy/system maps within a 200ly radius of their location at all times until they have been destroyed. But that dead horse has been beaten into molecular obscurity.

Thanks Sunny.

People think this stuff comes easy and we're just winging it, but it takes dedication and effort.

I have no idea what pearl clutching is though and a little scared to google it.
