An open email to FDEV from a hardened PVP Veteran...

Fair enough, but nagging about PvP'ers/griefers ain't going to do squat.
Jedi'ism NEVER fixed a thing, right?
I think that's a issue in the end: passivity. :p

Unless we ACT, nothing EVER will change.
I think you missed the point - this thread was started by a "hardcore" PvP player, who thought it was a good idea to basically nag PVEers about not being their content.

And if you act, you give them what they want. Therefore, saying that people must act will only exacerbate the problem. As many have said, this isn't really a PvP-focused game. It permits it, but isn't centred around it. Want fair PvP? You need some kind of central server instantiating an arena of some size but which is still clearly an arena. I put it to you that 400,000,000,000 star systems does not qualify.

I have just been through every post in this 16 page thread and have yet to see an actual answer to the question posed very early on

Why dont pro-pvp groups just fight each other in open??

Not a single coherant answer - if they want pvp surely its the perfect solution
Or perhaps will a wing of 4 corvettes vs another wing of 4 corvettes gets too expensive very quickly?
But think of the rush - the buzz - the visceral excitement
Personally I think they dont want a fair fight, a balanced fight, equal odds - they want to see a weaker less geared opponent go pop and high five their wingmates

So go on - leet PVP endgamers - Why arent you challenging other leet PVP endgamers to a war???

I am really looking forward to your balanced reply

Everyone and his dog who has any interest in PvP appears to be spoling for a rumble in Maia just now. Of course it will take too long to get the Ferdies out there

Then start a group and seperate forums and have people come to your forums and name and shame the griefers. Sounds like some serious emergent gameplay if you take up the banner! (just be warned, trying to find said griefers is nearly impossible due to PtP and instancing...but it will be nice to know someone out there is trying!)

You could almost imagine an equivalent of the fuel rats - the only issue would be a way to avoid malicious calls.

Honestly, what we really want is more incentive to PVP. We want you non-PVPer's to come PVP us, and come to the realization PVP is actually REALLY fun. Right now we are just a bunch of 'space salt miners' versus a bunch of scrubs who can hardly survive against overpowered NPC's. Get better at piloting and give us a challenge. That's what we want. There's no incentive to taking us down or becoming a better pilot. We refrain from killing "harmless and mostly harmless" players, but most players hardly even fly a cobra. If you don't want to PVP just fly only cobras...its a waste of our time to chase you.

Well as far as I am concerned the enjoyment of PvP is an individual thing and so you shouldn't try to push your choice on others who may feel differently. As for myself it is not a part of the game I want to be involved with so any "improvement" to the PvP in game is more likely to make me stay in solo/PvE group.

That said I do hope you are able to continue enjoying your prefered style of play as I will enjoy mine, however I doubt from your "everyone should PvP cos its great" attitude will ever convince anyone who has played the game and found their own route to enjoyment.

You must be one hell of a pilot then. Just remember, there are plenty of players who find the game a challenge and for them there are many dangers in the game.
Well, i can take on 2 Conda's and live to tell.
When lucky, three, though I did lose a few times vs 3.
4... nah...

Luck is an issue, mostly.

I DO have to say: I played quite a few space games, like for one Freelancer.
So I am not that illiterate when it comes to space combat.

Gee let me guess, you interdict individual commanders with a wing of 3 or 4. And then you wonder why they are "incapable" of giving you a decent challenge. I generally dont call those people griefers, but cowards too scared of an even fight. Instead, if youre so good and experienced and want a challenge why dont you organize fights among yourselves? Do some 4v4's vs other experienced cmdrs in your group, and leave individual cmdrs be. That is the reason many commanders dont play open. Groups like yours is the reason why "pvp is fading". Cmdr goes online to try it out, gets jumped by 3 ships, killed in 2 seconds and says "ahhh so thats what open is all about, ok back to solo"

If it ever got to a point where even more of these groups/wings are online, most individual cmdrs will just play solo. You want a challenge? Try interdicting a cmdr flying an equal caliber ship and fight him 1v1 like a man. Maybe you will find that a bit more challenging than a 4v1 fight.

And this should be copy/pasted as an answer to all of the similar whines.

Rep, sir.

I've asked elsewhere why PvP-oriented players don't just set up an inverted Mobius.

No one answered.

I suspect that whilst the OP and many other "organised" PvPers may make use of this arrangement there are possibly a larger number of "random PvPers (for want of a better phrase) who would find going up against someone who has the skill/experience/ship to fight back would be less invitinf

I Love these threads.
Totally self serving humble brags.

So which squadron commander are you then? A or B?

B:squadron leader 2.jpg

Must admit, I am pretty bored being told that I am not "Really" enjoying my game to it's fullest because I don't like PvP ... I can categorically state ... as fact, that IMO (and that's the important bit here) that PvP is the WORST part of Elite: Dangerous.

People were jumping into private groups/solo from very early on as a result of being unhappy about being someone else's 'Content' .. the warning signs were there, and now (much like CQC) open is slowly dying .. and it's a direct result of chasing the idea that the only good/rewarding thing in Elite: Dangerous is PvP.

Those people who now seem to be without 'Targets' to kill have brought this mess upon themselves ... all of this is just my opinion
