Why all the fast grind? Why do you have to have it NOW? I've been playing since release (Dec 2014) and only bought the Corvette in November 2018! I finally had the rank, credits, engineers and materials to do it justice. Now I'm loving combat - and still tinkering with the build.

This is an issue especially when people are crying like babies because of their personal choices.

OP.
If you can post a video of your ship's destruction, it'll help us to give you some pointers.

Some points to consider:

  • Bigger <> better
  • Anaconda is not a dedicated combat ship. Vulture is.
  • Vulture can easily take out Anaconda as it's a very maneuverable ship

  • What combat rank was the NPC Vulture?
  • What was your class/rating equipment?
  • What engineering did you have on your PD/Shields/Shield boosters/ Engines/Hull/HRP?
  • How many modules reinforcement packages did you have?
  • Did you have 4 pips to shields?
  • Were you turning with 2 pips to engines and in the "blue zone"
  • Did you use Flight Assist off and using boost correctly
  • Have you completed all the combat training missions?
  • Do you think you were over confident?

If I was back in the bubble, I'd hook up with you and give you some combat practice. Unfortunately, I'm on DW2 for the next few months.

Post back if you want some tips, lots of experienced CMDRs here.

If it was the real world, you would never just buy a ship you know absolutely nothing about. You would be allowed to perform a test-flight, to see if you actually want it. Elite tries to be a world simulation, yet lacks a lot of the flexibility that comes with it, like you can't cannibalise a ship and let it rest in a hanger without core components. No, you have to buy replacement and if the station doesn't have those, you have to spend additional time flying around to gather those, just so that you can outfit your new ship with modules that you already own. That adds an unnatural amount of grind to Elite Dangerous. It's a world simulation that isn't done all too well in certain areas. That leads to some frustration and you probably have just experienced that.

Too true. A lot of years ago, a friend of mine took me with him to buy a Ferrari. I can't even remember what model it was now, but it was a stunner. My pal and I were about 20, he was in a rock band, and he had more cash than he knew what to do with. The dealer he bought it from was savvy beyond belief—the salesman insisted my mate drove the car on a track before he would cash the cheque. The salesman did a couple of laps in it and then they swapped seats.

Then came the immortal words: 'Has Sir driven a really powerful car before?'

Sir said yes to this.

The salesman put on a crash helmet.

Sir let out the clutch. The car did a 180 on the spot and stalled.

My mate didn't say much on the say home, but we didn't leave in the Ferrari. They made him take some lessons. He still ended up parking it backwards up a tree in the end, but I remain convinced that the lessons prevented him from killing himself (-:

You know. Been around the forums for a few years and have seen how bad some of these threads have gotten, and i can honestly say, despite a couple of posts being a bit argumentative, the 'git gud' crowd have come a long way in being more supportive and respectful.
On the whole this thread has been very informative and welcoming.
Thumbs up everybody.

(No im not being sarcastic.)

I might even have a go at combat myself.

Thank you.

Edit @ Rockhat, because we can't quote pictars noe moar ;__;

He said the truth about the Python flying like a cow after the K2. :D When I got my K2 I stole all the Engineered guts from my Python, and they never went back. Python's been retooled as a decent mining rig, but it's named Cosmic Hippo for a reason.

Sigh; this forum is just too strict really. So many other, bigger, games allow quotes of pictures.. but not this place. No-sirree. Nah. Gosh darn, and this balderdash language filter .. makes me feel like the company is a tad too "Gosh, think of the childrens! They can't learn all these naughty naughty words from us! :O"
Anywoo.. /rant

I saw someone use the word '' in a post to me earlier. This is a test to see if it works here.

EDIT: Yup, that works. Funny how you can call people a '' but try writing the word 'p*ssy' (with a u instead of *) and it blanks it out, because one is sexist and the other is not?

Consistency: Frontier mods don't have it.

I tried using the word in 'p*ssy-footing around', I wasn't even trying to belittle anyone, I was using it in reference to the animal, not the other thing. But no, not cool dude. Meanwhile, it's still okay to call me a ''.

2 weeks Anaconda....

Learn the game.....

Silly post.

Been playing 3+ years, and I'm still learning new stuff!

Admittedly, it took me months to afford an Anaconda. And a few more to actually decide to buy one.
Then I didn't use it for ages.

Python was more fun back then. :)

Pro tip, CMDR Zeeez. Don't grind for the Corvette.
That's not a star destroyer either. Lol
