Another C&P Rant

Am I reading your screen right, you cannot access the market or cartography, but you can access missions?

Yeah, and missions out here are garbage. What I really want is Cartography and Advanced Maintenance. I'm out here to do some exploration, using this outpost as my base of operations. I have a particular interest in this region right now, and I have an affinity for this particular planetary outpost.

Did you open a ticket with support?

I just submitted it :D The "I am not a robot" game is a worse grind than unlocking Guardian weapons, LOL!

Or wait for the notification you've left the no-fire zone before you start firing.

Everybody makes mistakes. That's how we learn. Also often-times things happen that are outside of our control - like an injured sidey accidentally suiciding against your hull from the rear

It is my opinion that the new C&P system is ludicrously and unnecessarily complex. It is beyond the understanding of the average player I believe and the concepts beggar belief. Hot ship? What the heck is that? And now hot SRV inside a hot ship? Give me a break! All the hard stuff like being transported to a prison facility and having super ships bearing down on you should be reserved for the naughty people who grief other players - in other words - PvP. Simple PvE events that cause fines should be a simple matter of paying off from any contact in the system.

And in case you weren't sure of my opinion about C&P - It's dumb, added to dumbness on top of dumbnity.

It is simpler than the old system, but more punishing towards minor crimes and therefore a pain to the majority, because we all slip on the fire button occasionally, officer.

Seriously? How is it simpler than the old system? I had no issue with a "hot ship" or "hot modules" before. There was no prison that I was forceably transferred to. There were no super-ships tracking me down. There was a simple timer (also dumb) and then I was good to go.

For the record - I also think that the old system was stupid too.

If I'm given a parking ticket, then the town that issued the ticket is going to be able to receive payment for the fine. Now let's imagine this town is in Hawaii. It would be ludicrous to go into the town office and find a sign saying, "To pay your parking fines, please visit the Los Angeles Police Department.

I earned a 50 credit fine for shooting a rock in my SRV just inside the NFZ of an outpost in the Lagoon Nebula (I missed the hard-to-read warning text). This is what I now see:

I had hoped to make this my base of operations for awhile, but now I'm locked out of the services I need. Luckily in this specific case, there is also an asteroid base in this nebula, but what if there wasn't? The nearest IF station is well over 4000 LY away! And I really wanted to operate from this outpost, not the asteroid base...

This is utter rubbish and completely illogical. Any outpost that issues a fine needs to be able to accept payment for that fine.

Frontier, might you consider clearing this fine for Jenny_Diver on PS4? You can even take the 50 credits out of her account! I promise not to shoot any more rocks inside the NFZ..

Sorry to hear that OD. :(
Fdev has a lot to fix but they don't seem too much to care for all the broken items currently on their list. I've pretty much stopped playing for the exception of knocking out my Sag A run. I'm playing other pixel ship games (Space Engineers & Star Citizen) until or if Fdev gets their stuff together.
At lease with SC the devs knows things are broken and are trying to fix them. With Fdev who knows what they're doing behind the scenes because they have very little communication with the community and when they do comment it's "Blah, convoluted reasons, blah, we're working on it, blah. Buy our ship skins sheeple!"

No quotas here. There's set amount for e.g. speeding +10 past, +20 past, +30, etc. Yadda, but no quota. They can, and should, be able to throw tickets as many/much as they please for any reason they see fitting.

How do I move over to your universes timeline? :)

In my case I was outside the NFZ in my SRV, harvesting rocks on my way back to the outpost after some mountain climbing.

I was right on the edge it seems, and on PS4 you get a short GREY text in the comms box that fades away rather quickly. There is no audio comms like we get when approaching an outpost or station in our ships. And I was actually keeping my eye out for that text, but I obviously missed it.

I'd also like to note that 8KM is a pretty huge distance from the outpost when traveling by SRV. It's not like I would have hit the station or another ship with a stray shot!

Leave it to StigBOT to blame the victim....

Yeah, some like to blame others for not knowing and understanding the C&P mechanics but the mechanics are wildly illogical and make no sense at times.
Getting a fine (not a bounty) that locks you out of station is equivalent to getting a parking ticket in front of the store you were going to shop at. Now you can't shop at the store you're parked in front of because of the fine and have to go the the police station to pay the fine before you can get your groceries.

The no fire zone isn't a new or accidental thing, it's also completely within the players control.

It's about reducing the ease of murderhobo'ing without spoiling proper criminal gameplay. The hot ship means you can simultaneously have a "good" and "bad" character on the go, as long as you pay attention to outfitting it'll never effect you beyond that. I've had a hot ship for months with no negative results as I set it up with that in mind and treat it as my hot ship so I don't make mistakes like switching internals to any of my other ships.

And in case you weren't sure of my opinion about C&P - It's dumb, added to dumbness on top of dumbnity.

If you want to be a bad guy then embrace the bad, if you don't just pay off small fines before they become real issues.

Under the new system you can't be bad guy in the morning and a good guy in the afternoon using the same ship.

So it was your own fault, git-gud or man up.

Ohh it is simpler...and harsher in same time. And it makes crimes against NPCs stick so I guess it didn't aim to be popular in first place.

Blocking you out of station services for small fines and sending you to detention centres for small (in the hundreds) bounties is really not good gameplay IMO.

If you've chosen the criminal life then sure, block me and send me to detention centres.

But if I've made a mistake resulting in a small fine/bounty I should be able to clear it at the nearest station without being inconvenienced.

And fix for this would be so simple. All crimes under 1000 cr would be fines all above that bounties. Fines could be paid without any other penalties. If frontier wanted to make this C&P system better one dev could probably do it in a day.

C@P DETENTION

Hi, I had this problem with a fine for shooting a cop in a hi-rez, got a 200cr fine, when I went to pay I ended up in detention, and had to pay for a rebuy

Is this supposed to happen with a fine? [woah]

Richard

Are you absolutely, positively sure that it was a FINE and not a BOUNTY? While it is now possible to get a fine for shooting a clean ship in my experience it often results in an immediate bounty - which leads to detention when trying to pay it off.

Sorry if this has been suggested already but did you try and sell, then repurchase the SRV in Outfitting (presumably the asteroid station has that facility?). I'm thinking of the fine is attached to the SRV, selling it should get rid of it - I noticed that 'hot' ships can only be sold at a 75% discount so that would suggest it's a way to clear it - and would apply to modules like the SRV as well...

Yeh, how many places are there like that?[knocked out]

Not sure... but I can tell you that damaged stations are like that. I ran into a similar issue where I was running cargo to one.. got a fine for speeding outside... and of course you can't pay it off... have to jump to another station. Which you know... not like FDEV doesn't want to waste our time or anything... yeah right.

Also, self destructing in the SRV should spawn you back in your ship, not in a penal facility. Not sure if that would clear the fine, but worth trying maybe? I only had a fine issued for me once in an SRV but was able to pay it off at an IF as I was in the bubble, so it's all guesswork I'm afraid.
