So if the Corvette is that nimble in a g-field, what does an Eagle flyover look like? Can't wait to see the smaller ships zooming over head. They will probably be moving so fast, they will be fiery blurs in the sky ;)

One question though, if the biggest playable federal ship can bank that hard and not lose altitude, does that mean that flying in a g-field is easy?

Pitch, roll and general angle of attack are meaningless in a non atmospheric scenario except for bringing thrusters into alignment and lateral thrusters in Elite have as much power as vertical thrusters so other than managing the thruster control there is no reason whatsoever for it to lose any altitude, it's not like an aircraft that has to maintain airflow over it's lift surfaces, he could have come in inverted or on knife edge and still not lost any altitude.

Ok I was going to resist until release.....nope, payday next week, pre-ordering has now been decided!
Looks like enormous fun!

I first wonder what's the context behind being considered as attacker by a base: that's something new to E: D as there's currently neither station nor outpost in aggresive defense mode from scratch (apart from law infringement). Can we assume there will be pirate bases along faction ones?

It's friday already? And a new glorious peek? Oh,well... *cracks the seal*. Cheers! With this rate I'll be a full blown alcoholic in time for Horizons...

Question is, how fun will it really be? To me it look like a bit too much pew-pew and less like the more slow paced gameplay that I've always liked.

I hear you, but I think we should look at this simply as an example of combat - I'm sure our options will not be confined to Charge of the Light Brigade tactics. :)

This looks excellent, it's very similar to my commute to work*

With regards to attacking bases in solo, I wonder if there is a way to instruct or remote pilot your ship to help you out? (Similar in concept to controlling ships in x2 by setting them to "protect" etc).

*: it's not.

Well , I just lost intrest in every other space sim outside of elite dangerous.

Well done FD , I love you guy so much

Here is this week’s quick-and-dirty unedited video capture from the Planetary Landings update for Horizons (using the same dev machines as before) as we begin a raid on a surface base, using two SRVs and a ship. Still quite a few elements need work which I won’t list here, but you can see there's been good progress since last week:

Mon dieu... This is so exciting !
Having "air" (space?) support to a ground attack with no less than a Federal Corvette, is just... SUPER Amazing !!!

:D
