Another solution to ganker problem

No, that's a waste of time. They don't respond.
They do if they need to. But if you don't want to do that then go make things up on INARA again then I guess.

Fact remains all the moderators can do is enforce what Frontier tell us to, and the rules clearly state what they are and what to do if you disagree with anything.

And no matter what others may say elsewhere, the idea that moderators operate without input and instruction from the CM team, and that our actions are not reviewed are frankly laughable.
Last time I got a forum warning it was for posting a meme in the same thread that one of the CM team had posted a meme on the same subject. It was very "rules for thee".

So they know they are upsetting people by attacking them, but do it anyway, so know you know why they are called gankers.
No, they don't know in advance who will be upset and who won't. Because getting upset about ganking in a videogame isn't normal. Many people don't get upset at all, and some actually welcome the challenge. Gank evasion, i.e. intentionally taking an unarmed ship to a ganker hotspot and surviving, is a valid play style that requires gankers as antagonists. NPCs, even the new hyper-aggressive Thargoids, are no replacement. I currently spend most of my in-game time flying an Apex-style Adder in open for passenger missions between Shinrarta Dezhra and surrounding systems. Each return to Jameson Memorial takes me straight into ganker territory. This is the sort of gameplay I enjoy, and any proposal to "solve the ganker problem" has the potential to ruin the game for me.

The whole premise of this thread is wrong. Gankers are not a problem and require no solution. Gankers are a challenge, just like Thargoids, but smarter, less predictable, more social and less repetitive. You can fight them, evade them, avoid crossing paths with them, join them, learn tricks from them. They have the capacity and variety to keep the game interesting long after everything else, every other activity, has worn off and become boring.

There's no point in quoting me looking for a response, I clearly said I am exiting this discussion, it appears now I have to exit the entire thread, it will probably be closed soon anyway, done here!

Some people dont like challenges in video games and want to make sure it is removed for everyone.

If only there was a word to describe it.. oh well.

I don't need your consent to express my opinion in a public forum after you expressed yours.

Anyone who deliberately intends to ruin anyone else's gameplay by bullying has no place here and you should be ashamed to stand up for them.

Use solo or group & 100% eliminate any risk of direct PvP. Disable system chat & completely remove any possibility of seeing chat you don't want to read, you can block and/or report individual players too to tailor your experience.

The game already provides these tools, there is no opportunity for direct bullying if the player doesn't want to be exposed to that.

Your reaction here is excessive, people can take personal responsibility for their own mental wellbeing in this game, even though I don't use those tools I wouldn't have bought it if those options weren't available.

We are more exposed to potential bullying on this (child friendly) forum than we are in the game. Play your own way, let them play theirs.

Having tools to mitigate is not an excuse for their behavior.

We don't get to choose how others act. We only control how we act & react ourselves. ED as as safe an environment as they come. If a player wants to socially interact with strangers there are no rules that can guarantee that everyone will be accommodating, and some of those people will inevitably actively try to be intrusive. That's not an issue with this game, it's an issue with any social situation.

You are playing a game that includes weapons & armour in it, people are going to shoot at each other. It is still easy to avoid if you don't want to do it.

Defending yourself is part of the game, whether it's against NPC pirates, gankers, or the latest breed of Thargoids. The game gives you all the tools you need to fight back, escape, or avoid danger altogether. Every ship, even the puny Sidewinder, can be outfitted and engineered to become gank-resilient. Besides, you can earn credits even in a fragile ship. No one is ruining your game by playing it the way it was meant to be played.

Defending against NPCs and players is very different. The latter is much harder.

Saying that the victim should have been in solo, had better shields, a better ship or skills is simply victim blaming.

Open is a shared space. Accept that others might not want to play the PvP game and go arrange fights with someone else. Leave those who want a co-operative game in peace.

I dont know why people think non-organic PvP in open should be advertised or ganking defended. FDev has intentionaly created PG for this. Open is for coop gameplay and by a very lesser margin for organic PvP that results from role-playing BGS, PP, etc. I dont understand why people do not know about this fundamental rules of a (partly) multi-player ROLEPLAY game.

I'm thinking you have a different definition for 'shared space' in mind than the game designers.

I'm not saying anyone should be in solo or group, I'm very much in favour of encouraging more players to play in Open. But with any choice there are pros & cons.

If one wants to meet random strangers one must accept that not everyone will be playing the same way. If one wants to only meet 'nice' people, inevitably that is a subset of all the people & there will be fewer random encounters.

I think Open was created as anything goes, be on your guard. And that PGs were probably only intended to be for groups of friends that all know each other, hence the original max of 100 (IIRC) players per group. Different groups of players have found all sorts of novel ways to use the game though, and the devs have tried to be as accommodating as possible to all but the ones intolerant of others.

It seems you haven't met our new visitors yet. You'd better get prepared because these new Thargoids are angry and might soon be all over the core systems. You won't evade their interdictions. When they pull you, it's either fight or run -- or die. The experience is actually not much different from a gank. In fact it is so similar, it might be intentionally so. If you can evade a Thargoid attack, you'll be able to evade a gank, too. The countermeasures are the same.

The aforementioned will be waiting for you in solo, too. If you haven't hardened your ships yet, now is the time to get started. The alternative is to avoid crossing their paths. This of course works for gankers, too.

The bugs arnt camping Engineers and are easy to counter, do SFNs work on Gankers or can we get a modified one? 😜
