Patch Notes Update April Update - Patch 2

Greetings Commanders,

We're aiming to roll-out a patch for all platforms on Tuesday morning (14 May) to implement a couple of bug fixes and address issues with the FSS (crashing when using the FSS, as well as graphical display and camera re-positioning issues).

We will update this thread with final times/dates as well as patch notes at the start of next week.

Thank you for your understanding.

Please find the full patch notes below:

Cockpit
  • Cockpit cracking effects are now triggered on the new thresholds, meaning they appear at the correct time
Crashes/Stability
  • Fixed crash that could occur when entering an AX Conflict Zone
  • Fixed crash that could occur when using the FSS
Exploration
  • Fixed issue that caused intermediate zoom levels to incorrectly reposition away from the body that was zoomed in on
  • Fixed issue that caused FSS view to break (UI misplaced and rendering issues)
  • Fixed White Dwarf classes DC, DCV, DO, DOV, and DQ codex entries pointing to incorrect classes in the galaxy
  • White Dwarf Codex discoveries have been switched back on (once the patch is live)
Navigation Panel
  • Fixed "has appropriate landing pads" being set to false (in the Navigation Tab popup box) when it is in fact true
Server Fixes (since April Update - Patch 1)
  • Fixed local news articles not displaying at many markets
  • Fixed some Conflict Zones not despawning correctly

still no fix for the "bodies that are not mapped appear to be mapped" bug? *sad trombone

I don't see why they didn't call it bug tracker. Perhaps they felt that the word "bug" was too negative but for me the word "issue" is much more negative.

There is no mention of how to raise a support ticket, there is not even a link to the support website at the bottom, which I just find bizarre. On the support website the "report a bug" link still takes you to the forum bug section! It's as if the two sites are owned by two different departments neither of which ever talk to each other.

There is a lot of dead links around forums, main ED site, shop, Launcher, Steam site, forums, youtube footer etc etc
This happens a lot if you rely on out of game sites and then also change software that runs it...
They sometimes fix this but its not possible to look at everything after that many years.

Maybe this is what you mean:

You can see if a bug is acknowledged by Frontier if you can vote for it.
Thanks. Today I already wrote about, how the whole thing looked to me. See further posts. I couldn't access the new issue tracker as did others. Some other online game developers handle communication things better. But I think there is light.

Thanks Will. Really digging the small patches for fixes. I wish that FDev continues to fix bugs by pushing small updates regularly instead of big ones once every few months.
Hmmm, that sounds like an agile development practice. Didn't FDev originally try that (around 1.1-1.3) but lots of people moan about "too many patches"? However I really would add my voice to lots of regular patches, given they must be on a multi-branch strategy now ((at least) one for Will/Adam's "tactical" fixes and Interstellar Initiatives, and more for the longer term fixes) there are advantages to regularly consolidating your bugfixes ;-)

Nothing about the FSS taking much much longer to resolve a scan on any planet with POIs = still a no-play for me.

Is this issue here to stay forever?

i really hope that you're joking, because its entirely game breaking especially when you're out of the bubble with the sole intention of scanning planets (graphics issues, blank screen, and the system and FSS screen turning sideways) . most of the time exiting and going back into the FSS does not "fix it"
Hmmmm...I understand your frustration and would suggest moderating your gameplay goals until a fix presents itself ie just get nearer to home for the moment, concentrating on the flight. After all, it’s better than soiling your undergarments in an attack of tantrumey space madness.

Try telling that to the DW2 expedition.
Anyway, it's not that easy to get "home" from the other side of the galaxy.

Obviously the solution to that is to buy more accounts. If you're not buying multiple copies of the game and installing the game multiple times on the same computer then you're not a true fan and have no right to complain.

The fix is "Close FSS", then "Reopen FSS" most of the time (there is a specific case when it sadly doesn't fix itself by just closing/reopening it though).

So, it's annoying, sure, but "game breaking" ? Nope. At least it didn't bothered me that much while I was ending my journey (3-4 times in like 55 systems).
Hmmm i encounter this bug several times. its gameplay breaking ,screen turn to black you hear ur fsd but dnt know if ur in fss or not .only the menu appear have to return to menu and relog.i try rescan the actual system a second time on two attemps but bug again so leave system.its not great if out there exploring.

To be frank, FSS doesn't always break, so saying that it's completely useless in all situations is an exaggeration. But fdev already confirmed all FSS issues (Will's post), so seeing no reason for them to comment this further.
Maybe not always but when you abandoned a system behind cause of it.you keep telling yourself there was only icy body....Hope..i used to be like you, then i took that arrow.

On PS4, it is absolutely game-breaking. I am currently trying to complete the full FSS scan for 25 Chi Capricorni and literally every time I try to scan this one planet, the bug activates. I exit FSS, go back to scan the planet, get the bug again. I switch to another planet, bug again. So I can only scan 75% of this system and will never be able to get more of it. So at least that section of the game (fully scanning systems and making exploration progress and income) is fully broken.

The black screen happened quite a lot to me on PS4. Didn’t need to exit the game but just drop out of supercruise. We’ll see after the patch eh?!
