Just tried to update..

I thought that I had evolved... and my name isn't even Jason !

Will try again next full moon, whilst running naked around the circumference of a dozen freshly picked potatoes placed in a circle - might light a fire in the middle just in case (-:

Forgive me if I'm wrong, I've only been viewing the outrage from the outside and haven't had a chance to play yet. But your argument of just add a frag turret and you're only restricted to the blue zone seems EXACTLY what people are mad about.

Using drag to counter drag (which would become the norm, hence the 'muh meta' argument) will just slow down dog-fights and use up a weapon slot and WEP power. Fewer weapon choices and slower fights are a bad thing.
I don't see why that's a bad thing, I would have thought the macho PVPers would love the extra challenge. Perhaps you could explain.

Limiting the speed of a ship to the blue zone and stopping boost means you can't run away any more, this would ruin any pacifist play style, since you wouldn't be able to run you'd have to fight.
More false arguments. You are only limited if you get hit. Interdicted, submit, boost, FA off, boost. chaff, boost. pop off a heat sink, boost, evasive thurusters, more chaff, boost, jump.
And if you had to fight you'd have to have a drag weapon, see previous point.
You don't have to fight see previous point.

From what I can tell it seems like FD had a design oversight with drag weapons, being to close to the issue etc. etc.

The 'Well I didn't have a problem with it' attitude that I've seen crop up here is like loving the smell of your own farts. It's not about you, it's about the community as a whole.
That's right, it's about the whole community not just a vociferous subset of it.

Nailed my play style to a 'T'. I'm not afraid to fight but my play style is very much the explore data/freight/mining style. I purposefully engineered my ships to be combat survivable as long as I can rely on boost in a pinch but I'm not looking for fights. If I can get jumped and have boost taken away I'm dead meat. Not my idea of fun to have myself, my ship, and my data or cargo spread all over the Black. If this drag munitions change means I have to re-engineer my ships into explore/trader tanks destroys my passive defense style of play. I'm almost 70, my reaction times will never match a 30yo's, so I have to rely on cunning and the ability to get the hell out of Dodge when I need to.
You are only limited if you get hit. Interdicted, submit, boost, FA off, boost. chaff, boost. pop off a heat sink, boost, evasive thrusters, more chaff, boost, jump. PS I'm only 7 years younger.

The Software Engineer profession must be a cut-throat over-subscribed profession. So many of them it seems. Every other person claims to be a software engineer. :ROFLMAO:
Well I am ! Well Ex. Retired now.
Yes I wrote an operating system in 1980 and had it published. But unlike "Bill" Did not make Billions.
Now to get back to topic.
A few days ago I wrote a DIATRIBE about Fdev not fixing a Bug. The one where you could not seem to complete an assassination mission.
Well it looks like they seem to have reduced the failure Rate.
Since the Update I have now done over 40 Such missions. I have had One fail, as the mission target was not displayed, but it was the correct ship and Pirate.
Before I was getting a 25% failure rate.
Conclusion maybe they have fixed it.

Now as to the Graphics. Which is a Water Cooled 1080 using a 40 inch 4k Screen.

I am now getting a steady 60fps with no jumping or flickering. The only change I did was the FX OFF.
If i check the Performance CPU running 12% usage and GFX 50% in open space and 85% to 95% when on planets either in the Ship or SRV.
When doing a Battle conflict zone or Pirates then again 85% plus. But in all cases the FPS stays at 60fps.

So if Fdev has messed with the performance I am not seeing it.

Now in there defense you all must consider that they are catering for a Cross platform environment. The PC people have a fair advantage over these Consoles. Other than size of course.

But in conclusion having now played with the update since it came out it has grown on me. I have not needed EDDB - Elite: Dangerous Database so much.
There other overall benefits as well the system seems smoother and does not slow down at funny moments.

So maybe the VR people and Consoles have issues but I seem ok.

This.
I was actually waiting for some numbers. There might just be a gold rush in this somewhere. Certainly a materials rush.
Yes there is, scoreboard.

ahhh wot

before the update you could have FX Quality on and maintain 60+ FPS, now you have to turn it off to maintain pre patched framerates, how in the heck can you no see that

you seem to be contradicting yourself there.

I have serious performance problems in VR (oculus) since the april update. Super cruise is still OK, but FPS rate in combat environment is terrible. I have a massive PC with RTX 2080 GPU, did not have any problem before the update. Yes, NVIDIA driver is uptodate. I did not have any problem in other games, so I guess that something has been messed up with the latest update?! Anybody has experienced something similar?

Yes that is what I forgot to put in was FX OFF I did not see any difference on screen?
Also trying to put a positive note for the update. Maybe I am just being naive!
