It is not a change that we asked for or needed. I agree. However, I think this playerbase is smart enough to be able to come up with counters to this in the coming weeks there are alot of unused engineering options and unused modules at the moment. I am sure something will be made to counter this, we have had bad changes before and the sky was falling but pvp still happens. If people want to pvp they will have to adapt to this change. I don't like the change, but I am excited to see what will come in the next few weeks after the initial shock has worn out and some people actually start looking into counter this, and then others start looking for the counter to that counter and so on.

There are no counters and this will kill PvP. Literally no one in the PvP community is happy about this because we understand the negative impact this will have.

Nice, finally I have a use again for that prismo pack-hound Cutter that slowly is dusting and rusting away

And another example how FD doesn't play their game.
Seriously, if you want to nerf perma-boosting, nerf perma-boosting and do not implement a new OP engi effect.
they could just change how the boosters work, like make them more powerful but make it to where you have to hold the button down and then it drains the distributor quicker.

counters=ecm's to beat packhounds, and point defense to counter the missles. If you are afraid of multiple missles, then take 3 point defense, when then will nerf the shield builds as well because they have to sacrifice their precious shields.

I do understand the negative impacts of this, I am just optimistic that if this goes through someone, somewhere, will find a viable counter to it. If that doesn't happen, or if no one looks into it because they are all too busy engineering their own drags then yeah, it needs to go. I'm also ready to say it should not be implemented at all but its gonna be there, the only thing to do about it is adapt. Complaining is nice but it rarely gets us anywhere, so i would like to think that the playerbase is smart enough to find a solution on their own.

I must've written this same exact post at least 6 times in this thread, and am getting tired of repeating myself.
Point defense is useless - it just doesn't work well enough.
ECM is useless - cooldown is way too long to stop every seeker thrown at you.
Neither of them will counter draghounds or drag seekers, and they certainly won't counter fragment cannons with drag applied.

Yeah, and 3.3 supposedly fixed 2000. Go ahead, name them. If that DBX cosmetic 'fix' is considered a "major update" (worthy enough to be list over the 750 that weren't), then odds are the ones that are not listed are trivial things like random "\n". Now don't get me wrong, I'll be happy if \n is removed, but I see nothing about the broken menu system or terribly horribly horrible awful disgrace Frontier tries to pass off as shadows on PS4. Nor do I see anything about the disappearing stars outside the Bubble, or any number of other reported and "up-voted" (old-school) bugs that have plagued this game since 3.3 dropped, and even before that!

But the DBX has a yellow console now, woo stinking fracking hoo.
I knew this reply was coming.
Hid under my desk waiting for it.

Ziljan, I don't understand how you're not getting this. This isn't a nerf to perma-boosting. This is a nerf to boosting, period. Evasion just got thrown out the window and now if you want to make quick vector changes, FA On is the way to go. You may as well fly 4-0-2 permanently while you're at it because you're ship is gonna be flying like that regardless while constantly under drag, so you may as well tank that sucker up. You said this is a nerf to Shield Boosters? How? This encourages HP stacking since you gotta tank to overcome the new lack of agility. And you keep talking like it's easy to avoid the effect too. What the hell are you on about? Let's go through all the weapons that can use drag munitions:

Seeker Missiles - If you're in a head-on joust, that PD won't catch the missile in time. If you have multiple seekers coming at you at once or in quick succession, that PD won't catch the missile in time. You're gonna get dragged no matter what.
Pack Hounds - Literally don't have a module to counter them.
Frags - You act like this is easy to dodge because they have a short range, but only a single pellet needs to hit you. Also, if you never get within frag range once in an entire fight, it's because you were reverski'ing. Also, I seem to recall Hazzmango dumpstering you in his Chieftain that used frags. You didn't dodge them too well there, eh?
Pacifiers - It's like you forgot this amazing weapon exists. It's a ing space shotgun with 3 km range and just like regular frags, only a single pellet needs to hit you to apply the drag effect. Good luck dodging that one.

The problem here is that once you get dragged once, it becomes a snowball effect. You cannot be evasive with 0 pips in Engines AND no boost. Once you're dragged once, welcome to the slog because you're gonna be spending more time dragged thrusters than you are without them.

And my last and maybe most important point for 95% of the playerbase: FDEV is making it too easy for griefers and gankers! Bigships with drag ammo and long range weaponry will just obliterate everything.

One can only hope. If the effect is catastrophic, it'll get fixed quickly. If it's just "pretty bad", it'll get fixed some time later but a lot of players will have already quit the game. That would be the worst outcome IMO. So I'm actually hoping for a really visible "D'OH!" and a subsequent patch.
