Patch Notes Update April Update - Patch Notes

The most features of this update are o.k. However I got two new issues...

1); Mudule Changes are NOT saved; I lost a mission (and a ship) because of the changes I made (and saved) to modules behaviour at the station. In combat it showed they all were set to level 1 (hugh :eek:). I was not able to adjust within 15 seconds, so ship destroyed, and lost my valuable cargo, the lives of 41 prisoners. And a bump in my ego, because of the reputation decrease :oops:

2); Restock at an station is also not working correctly, it will perform a restock, however the counter stopped at 10CR and if i press second time I got an server error (see pictures).

The other new features are operating well, so far as I can see, I think we/I need to find a cure for the module issue...

So, now I need to buy a new ship, and try to catch up with the credits I lost... whoaaa.... 😭

I mentioned it in several places: The modules setting sticks for me. I tried it for days now, and it works. But you need to do this: On a station adjust your module priorities as usual, check it, and then log to the menu! Log back in, and the modules should still have their priorities. Now they stick, at least for me. If you do anything in outfitting, you have to repeat the process. This works at least for me. Like in other cases (engineers, ranks or such things) it seems that the server now needs the log to save things. I always check the module priorities at the station, and if I need to change something I log to the menu to save it. I just returned from a longer journey (got all the Guardian modules) and the setting were not changed.
Restock seems to work, the 10 Cr bug allows restock and all is restocked, but there are always 10 Cr. shown. If you have something to restock, it is more than 10 Cr. and you can use it as usual, but always 10 Cr. remain.

I feel a bit sorry for the developers. Well meant is not well done, it is a pity, because the changes were clearly well meant and I like them, but a lot of things went slightly wrong. Obviously the games code is not very change friendly...
 
Ok tried some testing today just to see what was dropping the FPS so badly and can now say it down to CPU usage. None of the suggested made any real difference! In fact while trying to find the "one option" in the graphics which would release some cpu cycles I had a commander arrive at the station I was docked in. I was on LOW GFX settings with nothing altered and watched my FPS drop from 60 to below 30! The longer I leave the game running the more drag I'm seeing on the CPU.
Next I tried solo mode just to see what difference that would make but again since I did not close the game completely my FPS and CPU remain tanked! Only a cold reboot and reload gave me a few minutes of 60 FPS.
I'm convinced there is a process leak/something running away in the background now which is not related to GFX setting ect. (GPU reporting a max of 75% usage on MAX settings)

Again even on low settings if you go to an conflict zone the game tanks.

Elite is therefore not playable in most situations anymore ... well done ;)

I trust none of the consoles have seen a massive drop in FPS?

Er, yes we’re all suffering from performance drops. Even us ‘console scrubs’. On the whole, we have the worst experience anyway, ps4 being the worst supported as a matter of course. I should just be patient, if I were you, languishing at a mere 30fps at worst must be terrible but I can assure you, the reason why FDEV are working around the clock to deal with this is because it’s happening on PC too. For if it were only the “consoles”, we might see it fixed, next year or sometime never! So....patience, zen-like, caalmmm.
 
I too have suffered a drop in FPS on both PS4 Pro and XB1X since the April update, with XB being the worst affected, which I find odd as the 1X is supposed to be the most powerful games console available moment.

Here under I'm reporting a very bad performance in VR (STEAM, VIVE PRO, RTX 2080 Ti).
I only play Elite in VR. Now just got back from a break and after installing latest updates the game is no longer playable. I haven't changed any settings.
Here are my issues:
  • Massive FPS drop in VR !!!
  • Weird, incorrect scale of nearby ships when flying by and inside stations
  • Incorrect scale of stations' exit gates, from entry side it seems to be correct
  • graphics stutters all the time, making a game play impossible any more
  • Bad lights rendering when ship rotates during entering hangar - stuttering and woobling
  • ship is no longer obfuscating navigation aids when aid is out of HUD or behind the ship, normally it should not be visible when selected target's aid is positioned behing the ship, now I can see it through the sip, which is very incorrect !
  • all mentioned bugs in buy/sell screen or restock and so on
FDev, Please fix FPS drop for sake of gaming industry! We have not got unlimited budgets to keep on buying better hardware every quarter!

UPDATE: Setting FX Quality to OFF solves FPS Drop issue for me.

Have to be honest, haven't had any frame drop issues on the ps4 this week at all.
Then today I arrived from a week out at Pelican to a space station to cash in. Jesus, once I was through the mouth it all went pear shaped. Docking at moments was like a slideshow with a hazy interior of a damaged station and severe stuttering. Trying to manually land was harder than I remembered. No wonder Fdev are pushing docking computers....
Cashed in, went straight off out toward the core again where the frame rate is stable.
Maybe it'll be fixed by the time I get back....
 
Can't believe they haven't priority hotfixed the module priority reset on jump bug yet.
All my combat builds are pretty much unplayable unless you reset 15+ module priorities every jump.

Thing is that there are so many different builds out there, not everyone has the same bugs. I saw this one reported and tested it for myself. Set some module priorities, even switched a module off, did several jumps no change to anything.

Yes I tested some as well. No issues here either.
But today, the Cargo Hatch would not Open?
The Module was Inactive had to turn it ON..
But I did not switch it off.........
Must be related maybe?
 
Did you guys reboot? That's where all priorities are set to 1 for me. That means each new game session I have to set all priorities again, which stinks.
They can change without hint mid-game too. (for me) Which stinks death sometimes.
And they not always change after the reboot\new game start. (for me)
I have not found any reliable way to reproduce this issue yet.
Sometimes there is a reset after the first jump or ship retrieval from a shipyard, sometimes they hold their settings for many hours of a game session. Could this be a server-side problem and depend on which server you are connecting to?
 
somewhere mid session..reasonably accurate..
Playing in 2 different accounts a lot lately, mostly using vettes which for me usually means lots of fighting and as I have already said in this thread, many many times a day...
I have simply gone back in time and things I don't need immediatly get turned off keeping my power use below 100%, but I do look every time I move my ship in or out of sc or hyperspace.....pretty much 20-50+ times a day and almost every time I look, things are randomly reset.
as such its still bad, should my ship get damaged and suffer damage to the PP, chances are the ship will die if everything is reset to 1 and I don't notice..

So if you are in a ship that is or may be at risk due to PP usage near or over 100%, I recommend looking at the priorities every time you go into a different system and every time you enter/exit sc and every time prior to undocking from stations..
This is definitely in a class of extremely bad bug that should have priority #1 fix.....not so much a pun as a reality....

Pretend the Organians or Q have joined the game and are having fun with us..or Mxyzptlk....
 
As trying to submit Bug Reports is a Nightmare. Here Is one.

BUG REPORT:

Crash to Desktop when on surface with SRV investigating a new Guardian Site in Svarogich a3.
Guardians started attacking, Got away just.. Got a couple of K's away. Now rolling about looking for mining outcrops ect.
Came across protected site start killing skimmers as last one goes down CRASH TO DESKTOP. OOPS.
So restart Guardian site still there but Stash vanished, that is correct. So carry on exploring came across another cache more skimmers great time for more shooting.
ANOTHER CRASH TO DESKTOP.

This is the First time I have CTD'S in Years YES YEARS with Elite Dangerous.

For me it's the discovery scanner, every ship i've flown since the update, after the first jump to a system it's binding in fire groups gets deleted. I'm not ging to report it as a bug because it's a one off event, when you rebind it stays. I'm beginning to think that Beta releases of significant updates would be a good idea.
 
I spent several weeks trying to establish a pattern for the “already scanned” planet bug. In the end, nothing seemed to form a reliable set of circumstances, every time I thought I could see a pattern, it got broken a few scans later. Eg. I thought for a while it was connected to scanning two HMCs in a row, and this held up for a few systems, then it didn’t.. Then it seemed to be connected to scanning Water Worlds as the first scan in the system, then I thought it might be scanning an object in an “A” spectra system, etc etc etc... :(

In the end, I gave up and viewed each occurrence as being an opportunity to practice my memory skills for where probes landed ;)

(I started with a ZX81 as well. There was always a certain frisson with wondering if the 16K ram pack was going to fall out and glitch the thing at any point in time :) )
I think we will be stuck with this one for possibly ever. Like the issues with the stellar forge I think it is caused by the system generation method. I've had this a few times on planets that are both visible at the same time and I've watched both planets display my probe strikes at the same time. These are ideas from OOP as are the terms so it seems that all planets of a particular TYPE are created from the same OBJECT and then placed in the appropriate places in the system. So graphically we see distinct separate bodies but the code sees one OBJECT and for activities on the planet this is ok because you will never be aware of what is happening on another planet but when the activity is visible from space it's a new ball game. TYPE seems to be Planet Class HMC, Icy, WW etc - Atmosphere and type - Volcanism and type - Terraformable - there may be others, composition and distance from the star seem to be candidates, more work needs to be done .

I'm checking this out too. Tested in Synuefe TP-F b44-0 (everything previously mapped) and Synuefe WW-V C18-4 (virgin system) the correlation in both these systems seems to be if the planet is landable. Map one landable body and the mapped overlay appears on all the landable bodies.
