are thargoids basically end game for super players

Sounds boring. Honestly, my least favorite thing in games is when I get a 'story target' to 1 hp and hten can't kill him until his scripted stun locks me up and he escapes, or kills me, or does whatever the story demands. Boring. And let's please not use CGs, they ruined Jaque's, please don't ruin Thargoids with them.

Who says it would hang at 1hp? What if none of your weapons can deplete its shields? Or scratch its armour? What if it enters self-repair dormancy at 50% hull, repairing faster than even multiple wings could damage it but giving you a window of opportunity to escape? Any of those would be perfectly within lore. You're confusing badly-implemented cut-scene triggers with fearsome opposition.

Looking at the impact site I would think they either have a reliability issue with their tech or they have a maneuverability issue and don't deal well with gravity.

Either way it's still a deadoid not a Thargoid and as such no threat to us.

Alternatively, they'll be implemented as a new Power in order to revive the wreckage that is PP and get more people playing it.

They'll be interesting for a few weeks until the storyline peters out, then there'll be a massive CG to fight them where everyone gets to either die repeatedly or earn billions of credits, and suddenly the galaxy is full of invincible BattleCondas for whom the Thargoids are a speck on the canopy.

Yes, 2.1 has made me cynical ;)

I am thinking all the time that they wont just throw in some new NPC enemies. Bubble 2 may grow faster than we all expect ... refugees like us who don't want to be ripped out of Hyperspace all the time and eventually be destroyed in most cases.

We reached a point where FD needs to reset things a bit for old and new players. A new beginning. Maybe one of the reasons they throw money at us now.

So say we all ;-)

Mh, you don't know from which direction they're coming.Your base could be the first to fall.

If old lore is still valid, they live in Witch Space, and can therefore drop out wherever they want in our space.

Ergo...the concept of "from which direction they're coming" is somewhat redundant. They'll be coming from everywhere.

But..... haven't we found one of the smaller ships at the crash site?

Have we? Who says its a piloted ship? Could just be a bigger probe. Or it might be an actual alien, and they are big beasties made of metal.... or a robot of theirs. Or maybe its their mothership, and the aliens are really really tiny!

It would be a massive risk to set the bubble alight. They'd never do that. Much more likely theyll attack jaques and some concerted raids on the outer bubble. I also expect people will be attacked occasionally when warping between systems as well which will add some tension.

Its okay man calm down, those of us with heat weapons can bypass all of that. There have been a few throw away accounts used here and on Reddit that suggest that might be the reason they haven't gotten rid of it,

Is that an imperial loving Frontier smile? Or a toothy predatory grin before a light snack?

Isn't he a Fed guy like Sandy?

Well, hopefully when an alien threat does emerge, it will be exceedingly tough. It is narratively compelling and provides high en players with some genuinely challenging gameplay. Currently the toughest PvE environments are High intensity CZs, and they are no longer really much of a a threat to say a wing of 'Vettes. Stepping up the difficulty would be cool.

You underestimate the power of a fully engineered "big 3" ship. High CZ's are a joke for a single one of these ships, not a wing. I've been working on stacking war kill missions and seeing how fast I can get them done in my fully warfit Conda. My average time to complete a 96 ship kill mission over the last week is about 100 minutes, assuming I don't stop to re-supply ammo and just use synthesis.

Fair reasoning, but what about all the engineers bases ? I don't think they can just be moved by snapping fingers

I'm hoping for some variation. It wouldn't make sense for all the Thargoids to be ace pilots any more than the humans to are.

That said it would be cool if the better Thargoid ships had better on board gear to "examine." (As in loot, reverse engineer, and use on my own ship.) Purely in the interests of science of course

Reading your quote my brain switched to Star Wars Emperor voice over. If you could just slip in a "fully operational Death Star" next time that would be great.
