are thargoids basically end game for super players

Thargoids are going to be practically indestructible. You will need wings, tactics, and lots of visits to the Engineers to take them on. Not end-game as such, but a league above anything we have now.

(until the next alien race is discovered hehe)

They'll start out that way. But when we get the usual complaints of 'too hard', 'unfair' et all, much like the AI they'll be nerfed down to a point of inconsequential concern.

thargoids......the thing most of us have been waiting for........super players?....yeah id wager any amount that there are peeps out there who know ways to blow the thargoids away and whatever else within seconds.

there are indeed invincible supermen.......just waiting.....waiting for the right time to strike.

those thargoids are not going to know what hit them.....not the other way around.

you will all see when they arrive.

What is "super player" ?
1) Powers in PowerPlay ?!
2) Good combat pilots and/or rich people ?!

1) Maybe, only FD knows...
2) No, of course :D

I suspect that at first we will be "driven before them" and our current tech may not be enough even with wings/tactics. I would predict that the story line will follow us developing new weapons specific to hurting them and until then it's going to be like a disaster movie.

I think OP means "people in A-rated grade-5 Engineered Corvettes with billions in the bank". something like that.

I am considering taking my expensive ships to Empire capital and leaving them there. FD will not destroy the Empire capital !!!

My take on this :

1) I hope FD will allow players to root for peace or war, while making the thargoid ships capabilities very clear to us. (i.e. them being cortes&cie while we play the natives).
2) What will happen is that people will want war. They'll get it. They'll lose it. They'll cry for nerf. I hope FD will not bow XD.
3) Meanwhile, sensible people will flee to newly formed colonies around the galaxy in rag tag ships.

As one said "Fly, You Fools!"

As title, discuss.

I can confirm that when I completed the final mission for the Sol expansion campaign series, which did in fact secure the known galaxy under my galactic iron rule, I was then presented with a (frankly rather late and redundant) credits roll.
I patiently wiled away the time waiting for the credits to finish by mining some nearby asteroid belts.
Finally, my patience was justly rewarded with a special post-credits cutscene.
There was a blinding flash and I watched with amazement (and perhaps a smidgen of wet dribble in my underwear) as the nearby local space was ripped apart by a ferocious tear in the space-time fabric.
As I peered cautiously beyond the crack, covering my eyes slightly from the blinding light, I was able to catch sight of a hulking black and green ship mass, biological in nature.
Panicked by this, I hauled my Anaconda into gear and fired the thrusters to escape as a deep, rumbling, gravelly voice uttered...

"SOON*...."

I'm hoping there will be smaller Thargoids that newer and less experienced players can take on, medium thargoid ships for those with bigger ships and experience, and then motherships which require wings of experienced players to take on.

Somehow, I do not believe that FD will allow the destructions of parked ships. In the ED context, the ships are something like characters in other MMOs.
I cannot imagine that someone who paid for the game and stopped playing for let's say half year will return to game and will find his parked ships destroyed in the mean time. I can imagine some story about ships being evacuated to some far spot in the Galaxy. But destroyed ? No way.
