are thargoids basically end game for super players

Good lord Michael may as well of put "Mmuuuuhahhhahhaaaa".

It's all going to hit the fan I tell thee. :p

Somehow, I do not believe that FD will allow the destructions of parked ships. In the ED context, the ships are something like characters in other MMOs.
I cannot imagine that someone who paid for the game and stopped playing for let's say half year will return to game and will find his parked ships destroyed in the mean time. I can imagine some story about ships being evacuated to some far spot in the Galaxy. But destroyed ? No way.

Thats an easy one to solve with instant ship reprinting.....you come back find you have been evacuated along with the other refugees to somewhere else....and can insta-print a new ship there......maybe thats a good reason why this mechanic is being put in.....who knows!

Babylon 5 "Battle of the Line" to defend Earth mark my words.............well you'd have to wouldn't you?

I'm hoping there will be smaller Thargoids that newer and less experienced players can take on, medium thargoid ships for those with bigger ships and experience, and then motherships which require wings of experienced players to take on.

But..... haven't we found one of the smaller ships at the crash site?

They'll start out that way. But when we get the usual complaints of 'too hard', 'unfair' et all, much like the AI they'll be nerfed down to a point of inconsequential concern.

Well, i'm not sure what people expect.
That they'll be an all encompassing menace insta killing everyone in sight, or setting off doomsday devices in Lave and Sol ? Seriously ?
The way i see it, FD have 2 basic options to work from.

- make them common and ever present for everyone (Thargoids as managable and/or escapable content)
- make them very tough/wing content, but keep them in specific areas (Thargoids as optional content)

Either one of the two will prevent non combatants and less combat focussed players from being driven out of the game.
And either one of the two will spark plenty of controversy, no doubt about that.

Thargoids are going to be practically indestructible. You will need wings, tactics, and lots of visits to the Engineers to take them on. Not end-game as such, but a league above anything we have now.

(until the next alien race is discovered hehe)

Do we know this? Thargoids ships may be made out of Jelly Beans? (I have no idea BTW as i do not keep up with the chat on the aliens, but i am assuming no one actually knows the construction of their ships)

pfft, Thargoids will throw side Imperial and Alliance systems on their way to their goal: the Sol System. Hope Earth has got insurance lmao :)

Well, hopefully when an alien threat does emerge, it will be exceedingly tough. It is narratively compelling and provides high en players with some genuinely challenging gameplay. Currently the toughest PvE environments are High intensity CZs, and they are no longer really much of a a threat to say a wing of 'Vettes. Stepping up the difficulty would be cool.

if they're not virtually indestructible (using current technology), there will be no need to introduce new super-weapons, new meta-alloy ship armors, new ships, ship-launched-fighters etc. we can just carry on popping them like pirates. Which would be boooooooring. (don't forget 2.3, you have a whole team on your ship helping you fight. This mechanic isn't being put in to bounty-hunt at Rez-zones. It's for full-on war)

So we just have to hope that the Thargoids have a religious caste then!

I'm hoping for endgame raid-like gameplay, taking down Thargs for purple materials in order to make Epic Lazors. Seriously, this is what I want.

who knows that smiley from MB could be an indication that moving ships into the empire capital is a good idea ... :)

With my ships parked in Ix and Alioth, it has been an issue I have been pondering myself. Both locations are on rather 'exposed sides' of the Bubble in relation to the Pleadies.
