If you want to preserve your immersion...

The Pilots Federation have perfected a top-secret rescue drone to recover its members from deep space. An undisclosed number of GoFetch drones operate from bases scattered throughout the galaxy. Each drone employs an advanced hyperdrive as yet unavailable on the open market, and a guidance system that is rumoured to be in breach of the ban on sentient AI. Each drone has the capacity to carry one standard Remlok escape pod.

Activation of your ship's self destruct sequence will channel all remaining power into your ship's transponder to broadcast a subspace pulse to alert the Pilots Federation to your plight. Given the extreme range involved, a GoFetch drone will be despatched to your location.

Aaaaw come on you guys, cut the OP some slack.
How could he possibly have known this was a one way jump.
He's probably new at exploration and needs fdev to keep his immersion, he won't do it again, promise, right OP?
Just lend the guy a hand........

PFFFFF,.......NOT!!!!!!!

You dug your own hole man, it's called consequences of not paying attention.

Poor game design? Breaks immersion? How can it be either to allow the player the freedom to do both smart AND dumb things?

If I had manually plotted the route, rather than using the system provided, this wouldn't happen, but since this system was my destination, I didn't pay much attention to my last jump being a Neutron, thought I just got "lucky"

I remember the time I was in the formadine rift and decided to go to the edge of the galaxy and see how far out I could get. I only had a 45ly conda and I had enough polonium for about 10 double jumps. I got much further out than I thought I would. The planning I had to do to make sure I could get back again and the fear from the knowledge that one mistake would kill me made it the most fun I had exploring. I am keen to do this again one day. I had to find a system with polonium at one point and when I landed on that planet in the middle of nowhere it really felt like this spooky place for some reason.

If I knew that one mistake would simply require a support call to Frontier (who would move me to safety) it would have made the entire thing pointless (for me).

It's the best times I've had in Elite. I've been on several fringes, and I'm going out again. Have lined up a couple of goals already.

It's the "me against the world" feeling that's so amazing. And being there so far from society and all other players gives an adrenaline rush.

YES! Totally agree.

It wouldn't have had the feeling if there was a cheat to get out of it.

In earlier version of No Man's Sky, I played survival mode and it was the same feeling. I was on a planet that was so cold that it killed me within less than a minute, and I had to find my ship. It took me a week to get to a point where I had the ship and the upgrades to survive without worries. But a whole week was stressful, but also rewarding. And it's the same here in Elite. If you can't handle jumping to distant stars, then don't. But if you can handle it, it's a rush.

*nods* That's the way you get caught. Same in RL as in the game, you never get truly bitten on the bum by things that happen within the scope of your planning. Your plan stopped at your destination and you got there no problem...

Same thing got folks after the C&P changeup shipping a battlewagon with no jump legs into a place they couldn't leave for an illegal mission. Their planning stopped with completing the mission and THEN they got bit after it ran out.

If this is enough to make you quit the game, EVE is not the game for you. And I think FDEV magically transporting you to another system would break your immersion much more than self-destructing.

Have a friend meet you there with a ship capable of making the trip back, pretend your character transfered over, self-destruct, voila.

He's 200 lights from the next nearest star. Does a ship capable of that without a neutron boost, exist?
Not yet. The best you can get at the moment - assuming you don't have some very weird legacy-engineered module - is an Anaconda with 83.50 (so 167.0 with synthesis)

You could hypothetically get an extra 0.12 LY (0.24 with synthesis) by rolling enough [1] life support units with Etienne Dorn to upgrade his engineering research to G5 (or waiting for other people to do that), then fitting a G5 lightweight life support to the ship rather than a G4. So 167.24 is technically possible without Frontier bringing out extra ships or jump boost mechanisms if you do "enough" preparation.

[1] Several million at the moment, though it'll be reduced significantly in 3.3. But you'd still *really* have to need those extra 0.24 LY.

Wait. Whoever suggested this, How do I contact Gnosis? I was the ONLY CMDR to jump FROM Gnosis to Pleiades to harvest Meta Alloys to distract the Thargoid Hydras (after the leak 6 hours prior to the scheduled jump failure). Spent 4 Hours collecting them, then stayed up for the jump to "fulfill" the prophecy of the leaked failure. Maybe they would more sympathetic than FDEV. CANNON RESEARCH GROUP. How do I contact them?

This sir, is good. Seriously, good.

Canonn suggest a route to FD, who then move the ship during Thursday regular downtimes. As far as I know the route is already planned for the rest of the year. Even if you could persuade Cannon to list your current location as one of their destinations, you could be waiting months for the ship to arrive. I believe the max jump range is 500 Ly or so.

Sorry it is against the Canonn's religious ideals to rescue those who purposely get themselves into trouble :D

If they are willing to wait that long thatd be pretty cool story in a few monthes
