Be Warned

I find it fun how the OP has a 14 mil rebuy on that thing, and he makes a thread about losing 800k in ignorance.

I'm pretty new, but I already forgot that refitting a ship doesn't cost a few millions by default. :]

* Notoriety, based on 2hr per point.
1. The game/system whatever does not notify you when the notoriety has worn off. You have to relog to see it has now gone.
2. What other game makes you sit around for hours twiddling your space bits? (not necessarily a broken point, but moronic)

There is zero reason to just sit around twiddling your space bits. In fact there is an entire game you can play while it goes away but yourself and others carry on like 1 notoriety means the game is pretty much off and you have to stare at nothing while it disappears.

I think it depends on whether some were expecting a "Tie Fighter vs X-Wing" clone or a 1:1 scaled universe.

I dunno, but something tells me Frontier didn't create a scale universe for the purposes of "arcade" entertainment.

"Store" Citizen, on the other hand...

Actually.. No it doesn't...

* Galaxy Wide Bounties
1. When you enter the system of the faction of the bounty, 'Wanted' does not display, until you drop to the station. Meanwhile all other NPCs know you are 'wanted'

* Fines
A 100 credit fine apparently makes you Mr. Anonymous. Know-one knows you or will talk to you. But on paying the 100 credits, everyone is back to being your mate again. That's about as believable as fox claiming innocence in a hen house.

* In a res if the cops come after you, the entire res zone goes ape-manure looking for your bones. So if you kill them all, there are no witnesses right? Nope, everyone else in the entire galaxy knows about it. Apparently in space in 3303 space communication is at an amazing level of sophistication, but, cannot pay a fine remotely. I mean really!? We can swipe a card to pay fines right now. I can pick up my phone and pay parking tickets. But no.. 3303 they've gone backwards....

Finally, C&P was meant to stop the murder-hobos. What it has actually done is given the murder-hobos a 'look at my bounty' badge of honour to wear!! If that's not broken I don't know what is.

If! C&P is 'working as intended'... How come, only the PvE crew get inconvienced?

I said wanted modules were clearly marked, they are.

As for notoriety panel 4 again clearly marked, not that it matters it just means the odd bounty hunter dropping G5 mats so it's a bonus.

If you still see that you need to report it as a bug, since it was fixed in 3.1.

This is why I try to avoid talking game specifics with people who already quit, it's pointless.

Cheers Backelaer.

You wouldn't think the equivalent of a parking ticket would result in you losing your home.
If you pay off the fine resulting from the ticket rather than ignoring it then there is no issue - try to evade paying it off and you will find the penalties increase.

The system as it stands is pretty reasonable, it is only a problem for those that try to ignore the consequences really.

The new C&P Logo reflects the true nature of doing anything considered naughty.

I have the perfect solution to your problem BUT My Parole officer forbids me to associate with Known Criminals and unseedy characters such as yourself.

Can I haz yur stuff?

I'm fine with having escalating fines for crimes. Murder should weigh heavily on the pocketbook. Having your ship and modules become wanted (while you personally, are not-especially since your identity is auto-logged) is silly though. I think it was a misguided attempt to tie C & P into engineering (like every other aspect of the game), to give you a choice between paying the fines or re-purchasing and re-engineering your ship.

Won't happen - the only reason for this thread is they can't afford a < 1M fine - they haz no stuff ;)

As I recall the idea came from a CMDR on these fora, so your thesis in incorrect. Wonder why they rarely take the bright ideas put forward here :D

I was attacked randomly yesterday by system authority in a jurisdiction where I am allied with all factions, not wanted, no notoriety, no outstanding crimes anywhere. Saw someone else report this the other day and thought they must have done something wrong, but I guess this is a thing now too. Then there's the prison time for paying fines, rare, but it happens. I firmed a policy long ago that I deal with all bounties and fines immediately when they happen, at the nearest IF. It's the only way to avoid a nasty surprise.

Another thread on this?

Yes, there are many mistakes you can make when dealing with the C&P Mine Field! Once you learn what to do and what not to do it's not so bad.

That said, I hope Frontier improves C&P over time!

I'd say the exact opposite.

FDev need to get C&P working consistently, as intended, before anybody can hope to understand how it's supposed to work.

Yes they need to iron out the bugs but understanding how it's supposed to work is far from hopeless - it's pretty straightforward if you read the guide linked on the launcher.

Well, yeah.

It's easy to read an FAQ and know what's supposed to happen but when the cops start shooting at you for no reason, or when you get sent to a detention-centre and end-up getting a bunch of legal cargo confiscated after attempting to pay a trivial fine, it undermines the entire system.

What's wrong with this picture?

I screenshotted the first time, second time happened over the weekend, didn't bother. I apologise for my 'someone else will report it' attitude. :)

Keeps you on your toes though, especially in the lightweight courier. ;) I just headcanon that the pirate lord I'm on my way to assassinate threw a bung to the cops. lol. Was the Imps that did it to me, so it's not superpower specific at least. :)

When things happen that are not supposed to, file a bug report and help FDev make it a better system.

Since you're not wanted, it doesn't look like a C&P thing.

What is your reputation with Alioth Independents? Did you kill too many of their criminals maybe?

It would say you're hostile in the bottom right corner.

In all likelihood, it's a misassigned script... there's some scripted behaviour for certain situations where Authorities will attack on-sight, so they definitely can, it's just they're not meant to in that situation.
