Beta 1.1 comments for non beta players

increasing difficulty of bounty hunting by cell and chaff nerf and not increasing bounties is in fact still a nerf of combat. no matter if RES got nerfed or not....
so combat will be more difficult ( i have no problem with that) but it takes way longer to earn money because you will just need longer to kill an opponent.

In other words no more 30s kills of Anacondas in your single Eagle or Viper? I can see how that might be a problem.

  • "They nerfed my favorite ship, FD is so stupid!!"
[*]"They killed all the trading, I will never make money ever again!!"
[*]"They only added small bullfeces, where are the big changes??"
[*]"Do this yesterday, or I will leave ED forever and never come back!!"
    [*]etc.
I actually like that last one. Why don't you go do that. Seriously, the amount of whining, attitude, entitlement and disrespect some of you throw out here is fascinating. Think about it, would you talk like that if you were over at FD in person? And to top it off, you seem to believe that it will actually help anyone (yourself mostly). That you have the masterplan of what and how ED should be. That the devs will make it their prime goal to make the game work they way you intended, ASAP. Unless there is an actual player survey on issues and changes you have zero way of knowing what the often mentioned "majority" actually thinks and (dis)approves of.

Worst of all, that negativity tends to spoil or even drown out the encouragement, respect and the measured feedback/critique Frontier should be getting - and thankfully have been getting from many people in this thread and elsewhere already. This is the Beta release of a very early update. And no matter how hard the devs try, with so many people judging they're damned if they do and damned if they don't with one issue/feature or the other. I am sure that if there is something that is either detrimental or beneficial to the game as a whole it will be addressed by Frontier... eventually. ;)

indeed, FD have said all along that they are developing the game they want, the rest of us get to enjoy playing what they develop, we do not have a lot of say in how they choose to develop the game, and for the most part FD have been fantastic with recognising certain gameplay problems and trying to address them when its actually something that needs fixing in a way that is best suited to the game they want.

They also have not been backwards in coming forwards with saying it will take time for additional content to be introduced (back before release they said this) and since release they have began adding content while simultaneously fixing some pretty important bugs and closing down exploits etc... This is the first large update since release and look at the massive list of tweaks, fixes and even some new content items... and its not even 2 months since release...

Some of the impatient, 'entitled' players need to really cool their heels (and their fingers) and look it things from a different perspective...

I can't wait for the 1.1 beta to finish D/L so I can test out some of the new features :) and it will be great to see what makes it through to the final 1.1 update release :)

<Confused> If you want to earn money - trade.

Takes longer to kill a NPC? Skill up...

so game forces me to trading.....i have NO career option as combat guy as i can never afford expensive combat ships that would give me a progression. i will stick to a cheap viper forever then......
great game design!

every career should be viable as money maker! not only trading! otherwise combat and exploring is only a playground for traders in the long run......

but i will not take you skill-bait......thats just provoking -comment not worth replying to

How does chaff and shieldcells make you kill things faster?
I don't use both when bountyhunting. Ok maybe cells for elite annies. But never had more than one equipped, so i guess no real drama.

i take out an elite conda in a viper in 2 minutes because i keep in its blind spot most of the time and by using chaff. in this time i need mostly 1 shield cell, sometimes 3 depending on the type of conda manoeuvring (some just turn on a dime, others dont), otherwise i have to withdraw above 3 km to recharge shields.

so by the cell nerf you can now have still cells, but less DPS in weapons or vice versa......resulting in either longer time to lower the shields or by the need of a shield recharge out of range.
both will lead to a longer fight.......= less income per hour

So FD are essentially nerfing RES? GG FD... GG.

"Were adding content, by making the grind for credits even worse. You'll have to play more for the same results you were getting a month ago"

Trading was always the major money earner. The infinite supply of wanted NPCs was a *bug*... you know, those things that make the game work in unexpected ways? So you want the bug left in the game so that you don't have to earn credits the way the designers expect you to earn them?

Yeah... They are making the NPCs harder to hit... Skill Up, enjoy the ride.

Combat is not about earning... If that's where you were you were hanging your coat, well it's on the floor now and you're ranting because... you put it where it ought not be in the first place?

Next you will be complaining that you didn't get your name on the star because you never had a surface scanner. Ha!

i have no problems that trading is THE money maker.....but it is frustrating to see an income of a trader being better by a factor of 10.
the best thing you can make with combat (maxed python in an RES anaconda instance) is 1.5 - 2 million/h
a trader makes 5-6 million/h with a conda and even more with a T9

but CONSTANTLY......while i have to search for a conda instance somtimes a whole day

but it makes no sense to discuss with you as you are not willing to think about others arguments at all it seems

It's almost as if Elite wasn't designed as a pew-pew shooting gallery. I'd complain if I were you.

great.....so you say, that combat career is no option from a basic design decision......

well.....where was the proper game description that mentioned that during my buy then?!
what is the cinematic release trailer implying then?!

seriuosly dude.....this argument is no argument at all

I'm sorry but i don't get your point.

From the changelog:

"- Rebalanced shield cells to take more power, have less ammo and cost more per unit than before"
"- Shield cells generate heat while charging"
"- Increased ammo for the top range shield cell banks slightly"

These are the only changes i found concerning shield cells. How are they messing with your DPS other than choosing a loadout that will not exceed you max power.
The power in your wep capacitor is not influenced by this.

try to operate 2 B2 railguns on the viper together with 2 E1 beams even today. it requires extended power management already......and then install B3 shield cells after the nerf...it will just not work anymore!
so i have to take out the big hitters, or take out the cells bank.....

The Rock Music Filled TRAILER sold a completely different story of what Elite is supposed to be, didn't it anthonycsheehy? A combat and action packed space game. I havent seen people flying in one direction for 10 minutes in the trailer, docking and selling goods. Did someone see that in the trailer?

So, your comment is pretty dull! Not everybody is into trading. For me, it mega boring!! Boring! I don't want it. But I still want to have the same opportunities like other players and getting expensive ships. Your comment is just .... It's like you say playing Battlefield 4 and choosing one side (Chinese for example) the ships, planes etc. are weaker so you will lose. It's designed to be like that. *phewwwwwwwwww*

Shield cells shouldn't have a power increase, they should be.limited to one per ship, same for chaff

agree with the cells, disagree with the chaff
dual chaff increases skill in the game. you dont want to fight with fixed against players?! great....buy less effective turrets....they are not affected by chaff.

Yes, 'cause everyone was concentrating on the dude flying his cobra around doing all that jazz just to scoop up one tonne of gold. There were no traders, no miners (explorers would not be there), bounty hunters in that video at all were there?

Seriously, you bought the game solely based on that *one* theatrical trailer?

Your comment is so boring it makes zzz's want to snooze.

I'm not a trader, but I have to trade up for the equipment to do my chosen profession, and then some more to cover the insurance. I might not like trading, but I'm willing to do it to get where I want to be. You want it handed on a plate for you? Silver spoon still firmly in mouth...? Yawn

You choose one of the most power hungry loadouts for the probably most power confined ship...
I can see your problem now.

I like the design change even more now as there should, of cause, be drawbacks when fitting a very heavy weapon setup.

As you have access to the beta - can you confirm if the planned route is kept after you logout?

No it does not, though I don't remember hearing anything that it would/should be.

However fret not as the speed at which it works is so fast it doesn't matter. As soon as you load up the galaxy map it has already plotted the first 50Ly in any direction. You also don't have to wait for it to reach as star to set it as a destination, you can go to any within 1000Ly and Plot Route. It then works out the best route for you and if it is impossible to reach, then it will tell you the route is unavailable :D

a game should make fun.....and shall not be WORK
if ppl dislike trading, the game should offer mechanics, to earn the cash with other professions efficiently....
forcing ppl to do any things that feel like grinding is just bad

the drawback is already in....you cannot operate both weapon types at the same time! you have to manually switch them on and off. that takes some time and requires proper combat planning!

Totally agree.

Elite is turning into Space Truck Simulator.

non pvp'ers whining about ships being OP and devs obeying.
