Beta 1.1 comments for non beta players

I noticed a 4th 'tweak'to the python besides speed, shield and agility in 1.1 beta notes:
- up the rate of damage the python receives from overheating. (potentially more and already high bills)

Now I do know it is not common, most unlikely that you overheat the python due to it's stats. But I to wonder with all the new tweaks (including shield boosters generating more heat according to the notes) how 'easy' it is to overheat it now.
Has anyone tried/ tested this yet in practice?

It's already super easy to overheat, I noticed this fuel scooping.... I normally bail out at 135% heat, as the Cobra and Asp start taking damage at 150%.

I noticed the "taking damage" as I was pulling up and out of the scoop. Profit lost on that trade run, let me tell you...

Sounds more and more like they went a bit too mental on the Python.

Once you have Beta, can you still play normal? If not, I think I'll skip the Beta, may as well get as much use out of my newly acquired Python, before it becomes a pathetic shadow of it's former self.

Z...

You can switch between beta and normal on the launcher. I suspect it's a complete self contained client.

I don't want some vigilante pulling me over to check my cargo, thank you very much. It goes without saying that unwarranted interdictions are not OK, even if your intentions are to act like a fascist.

Yeah I dunno.
In some of the lower security systems the authorities may turn a blind eye to vigilantes or give them token fines or even clandestinely supporting them if they have a high enough rep.

Happens here on earth why not in ED ?

/edit
Same goes for piracy too, if the system authorities think it benefits their interests.

As an explorer i love the new pathfinding tool, thanks alot.
Also i don't think anyone mentionned it but thank you for the star class type filters on the galaxy map, helps a bunch to choose where you want to jump and/or find rare star types.
Just miss one thing now : navpoints on the galaxy map to force the pathfinding tool to go there on the way to final destination, just like today's GPS.

Yeah, I'd like if the system authorities behaved more like real police. ie. dirty rotten crooks who'll sell you out for their own interests.

As you have access to the beta - can you confirm if the planned route is kept after you logout?

"Interdiction can be a crime"

Wait, does that mean no more Feds dropping me out of SC?
You are a wanted criminial, so guess...

I currently dont pay off my bounty, so it doesn't effect me. However, I'm complaining because its a completely pointless change that is moving the game balance in the wrong direction. Before you ask, a small step in the wrong direction is still going the wrong way.

No, it's not a pointless change, it's a positive one. Right now you can pirate someone without getting any bounty whatsoever. This makes it a guaranteed crime so you will rack up the bounty over time to be worth hunting. If you don't like that so much, hunt in Anarchy.

So...

Python RIP
Trading RIP
Combat RIP
Comms MIA
Instancing MIA

But hey, we'll treat players like cats chasing torchlight and distract them with shiny visuals.

Really makes my day to read all this whining before the patch is officially released. Don't always assume the worst.

I loved those endless streams of cobras at RES too. But let's be honest. This wasn't bountyhuntig. Just bountyshooting.
And maybe it was a bug all along and we were supposed to have all the ships spawn not just sideys, cobras and annies.

I like what i readd for a 1.1 update and am already looking forward to all the goodies in 1.2 ;)

Let me know the download size if you can please.

Launcher is about 12mb - which took about a minute. As for the Beta itself... NFI, but it's downloading at about 0.35MB/s, and it looks like it's going to take... A while.

A very.

Long.

While.
May go watch Top Gear or something...

Yes you get to test the new version before it is fully released.

If you check the launcher it still shows you able to play the released version same as everyone else
sorry but its not clear you get to test Beta but does this mean on release there will be a wipe of all saved content or money earned ?

I too would love to see the mechanics of bounty hunting revamped so that there is some actual hunting involved and its less of a monotonous grind but I don't see anything indicating that's the case in these patch notes. Being fortunate enough to spawn into an instance where you do have a steady and decent stream of ships to kill (that aren't sidewinders) is the only thing that makes it bearable right now and even that relies on a roll of the dice (nothing dynamic about how the pirates spawn, seems set in stone from the moment you drop on of SC/reload) and half the time you still struggle to find anything to do. If hunting amounted to more than "look at this ship for a few seconds. Is it wanted? Kill it" with "look at this/keep this object in the centre of the screen for a while" being a common gameplay mechanic (not a very good one) throughout bounty hunting/mining/exploration it wouldn't be a problem.

Ok another Beta testing I guess its not a bad idea before release - But where are the promised free ship for Beta backers - where are the new ships even to test ? - where are the long awaited Thargoids which was a very important main part of Original Elite - oh well

Soon....

But in the meantime get distracted and forget about the issues with the sparkly night lights at Sol.
