I get stuck on the main menu as well now.

I checked out the location of the logs and, as predicted the netLog.log file grows in accordance with the time I spend staring at the frozen main menu. :p

I.e. I spend 1 minute staring at the menu, the netLog.log file is about 800 meg, I spend 5 minutes, it's a few gigabytes.

exactly the same situation here. netLog files are big...
bytheway can I delete them?

This is poor communication by FD. Not one comment since releasing 2.02? What am I to assume? That devs think problem solved and ticket a problem they most likely get swamped with?

How hard could it be to say on the forum: "Sorry, we will not be able to fix the netcode problems today, we're turning of the lights to get some sleep, so should you."

I have to agree with those that start to get impatient and say it smells a little unprofessional in here.

Gents

I will post my experience, I can play ED without any of the blank screen issues or limited gameplay associated with MTU that some users are reporting.

Here are my details:

Well, don't forget that the team worked extremely hard today in getting out as many patches as they did. I mean, these folks have families, right? Let's cut 'em some slack. I'm sure they'll be out bright in early UK time to keep up with the bug fixes.

It's just a game after all. A great game with tons of potential, too. :p

Dude did it actually occur to you that your speed might be why you can play the game and why others might be getting this black screen, it seems if its to do with bandwith its loading times or something that FD did with the transition to the ship screen.

The connection you have is one of really high end connections. You do not need to brag telling everyone your connection however...

It does tell me this black screen people are getting is related to that fact that the game either is trying to load something in that space with bandwith and everyone is thinking its a huge bug.

Why are people getting so upset that things are broken and not working? You all know that development is at beta stage, not release stage! These things are to be expected!

Keep up the good work devs, looking forward to the next iteration and hoping it will fix my start up problems.

Except that when it crashes on the main menu it's not trying to send/receive much data, so the speed of the connection appears to be largely irrelevant.

Hell, there's a lot of people saying they were able to get on by tethering their phones through USB, which is usually going to be vastly inferior to their wired internet connections.

I agree with this post.
We should not forget that we are the beta testers, not gamers. Now comes the stage of beta testing, and not release. The developers have done a great job to solve the problems and I am sure today they decide to with new strength even more, then we can continue to test the product and offer ideas to improve its quality.

This Smartphone think don t work for me. I have already tried it.

Let us wait for the next patch. I hope that will fix all the connection problems.

LOL using USB's and phones just makes me laugh lol.

But well if people wont listen to what others have said before or after them then there no point for a response.

However the crash at the main menu well that just sounds like a bug that is happing however. Where is it occurring, once you played the game ?.

Once you got into the game first time ?.

How long did it take and what steps did you do to make it frig up ?.

Agreed, however it worries me that this particular patch isn't just a case of "wait for them to get some sleep and fix it" like a usual connection issue. It's actually causing potential problems on users' machines, by generating that huge log file.

Not everyone has terabyte+ drives with free space. Some are pushing the free space limit, and not everyone reads these forums to know it's happening. That could be a tech support nightmare tomorrow, if FD doesn't release a hotfix or roll-back to keep that file from being written (or fix whatever's causing the insta-repeat error message).

No, it's not a bandwidth or network traffic issue. You can confirm that yourself by opening the Task Manager and opening the Network tab. You'll see very little traffic there.

I'm on a 200 Mbps fiber optics line in Tokyo and I have the same issue.

I can not even get my game to Launch, even on Beta 2.02

I am still being prompted for a Crash Report to be sent from popup box when I click on the Play Button of the Launcher :( I presume it will be a hardware conflict... But remain hopeful of a solution soon cheers

Ok am a little worried now because my PC just Blue Screened and rebooted, not sure if it is related to the Launcher being active and open or something else, But it does coincide with the crashes and has not happened since I rebuilt it :(

I can agree with this. seriously just be cool and it'll be fixed in no time. In the mean time just play something else...

When you talk about "there no point for a response", it would compliment your post if what you typed was legible.

For the sake of not overcrowding this thread with dribble, perhaps contribute with something constructive that might help folk fix the problem.

And for your comments earlier about bragging that I have a 150mbit internet connection, I wasn't. The purpose of the post was to relay as much information as possible since I thought it was related to MTU. I'd strongly recommend you think before you post lemonrev.

Becareful! They will censor your posts and delete them like they did mine. They are making GREAT! first impressions to players and backers lol.

Well got it to work by changing MTU on my router to 1500. Now this was from the ADSL-standard of 1492, so it will depend on your ISP and router make if it will work.

Also::

WARNING DO NOT CHANGE MTU unless you are 200% sure you can change it back.

What would be worst for you, another 12 hours without Beta access or a undefined amount of time without internet at all?

The menu works for me only with 1500 i can press play but after few sec loading screen it shows me that it could not connect to the servers.
If i setting MTU under 1500 the menu stuck. This is my experience with MTU.
1500 was also standart setting on my system.
