Patch Notes Update Beta 3.04 Change log

I've been getting the empty BB problem since B2. I can't believe they haven't figured that one out yet.

If it's only on certain stations (as it seems to be for me), then my guess is it's a procedural gen problem. In fact there are MANY populated/economy driven star systems that have no stations. This kind of thing could affect adjacent systems' BBs.

Problem is you do not even have to be close the planet to get the stutters, just in the vicinity and not even facing it.

Maybe textures loading into memory in case you look at it.

Not that anyone will care, but as I live in a very pretty place that British Telecom don't earn much money from, The big updates take 6+ hours to download. I prefer one big download so I can leave it overnight. Looking at the progress bar for this download you are all safe from my poor flying whilst docking tonight.

Lady Render is being taken to the pub tonight

Well mate, I do care. I still find it amazing that in the UK we have so many places with such crappy internet speeds. Many years ago I paid for Home Highway - the 64k ISDN solution from BT. The 1st 64k stream was included but you could bond to get 128k. However, BT being the utter gits that they still seem to be they would charge you for both streams if you bonded, despite the 1st stream being free. This was probably in the Quake2/Q3 days.

I'm lucky enough to have Sky Fibre and get a 40/10 connection. 6+ hours to download an update? Do you have to play solo mode then, if your connection is that slow? I guess any FPS game is out of the question?

Regards,

Cmdr NoOnions

This fix may have fixed disconnection issues, not that I had any.

All it seems to have done for me in Solo is add delays to starting game on clicking Play, then longer delay after clicking Solo.

Delays accessing Outfitting and Commodoties pages even though data is being sent and received (CTRL+B), took over a minute for Outfitting to come up in one case.

Delays into and out of Supercruise, had one just sit there for 2 minutes before it decided to carry on with jump when I hit Escape.

Maybe all the online Open sucking the servers dry, will try again tomorrow during day when everybody and his dog is not caning the servers.

Seems to me all this crap they put in to reduce disconnects and give more log info just creates delays in actually getting the required info for the game to run smoothly.

Roll on Solo Offline so now network crap required.

So far, so good, open play getting better again. Just been in a dogfight with Wanted NPC`s with 3 other CMDRs and all was well with no lag. Sadly it did lock up when launching from the station again.

This has been my theory since the beginning. It was exactly the same thing: the problem only happens at the systems further from "home base",

Group play tries to put you on the same servers so you are more likely to be in the same island.

Michael

Actually that means we will never have a "real" Multi Player gameplay ? As all player have to deal with luck to be in same island as they want to play together ?? Little bit contra productive isn't it ?

Col O'Neill: "What they patched?"

Col O'Neill: "Cool."

Hi everyone,

Beta 3.04 should be with you in the next 15 minutes - 16:00 GMT

Essentially, this update should improve the multiplayer performance of the game.

Please let us know if it improves your experience, and let us know if it brings in any new issues. Thanks again for playing, filling out tickets and letting us know about your experiences with the game.

Ed (and the development team at FD)

Yes, so far I have played 3.04 for two sessions, an hour each time (open play), and had no freeze, no ctd, no respawns into the space station structure, and no excessive waiting for launch, so it seems to be a big improvement for me, thanks.

Nothing about the stuttering then?

Yep. This is the single biggest issue for me and the two other people I know IRL who play.

Stuttering when going into hyperspace. Long pause when closing in on a destination in supercruise and a horrid wait followed by a jarring "things pop into existence" at the end of supercruise.

Preloading doesn't seem to be happening. It's like "you've reached this boundary, we need to load some data, but the whole game's going to pause for a while whilst this happens"...

It's the one thing they're going to get slated for hard on launch by non-beta users IMO.

I get this one too, exactly the same symptoms and it's horrid, really offputting. I was hoping it would have been fixed a while back as it's been with me for a couple of months now. When I first started playing this there was no sign of any pauses, only happened after after B2.

I think it could be one of those things that the devs aren't experiencing but it's *so* common that no a lot of tickets are getting raised for it as "they *must* know it's still going on and are working on a fix".

...then release happens, and everybody jumps all over them for something so obvious...

As usual, disclaimer as it is individual expierence, different from others, etc. If you suffer bugs please report them - even again, so they know that you have regression and/or no change.

It is way better for me. Station with 3 - 4 players doesn't turn game into slideshow (in fact it is smooth as silk), which was very visible in 3.03 and before. Also have way less stutter when closing in to busy stations.

Overall big improvement to me. Tried also mining - nice little gameplay. Add scanners and more advanced techniques for big ship mining and it will be a bliss.

No word of mission fixes in the change log?

The problem is NOT FIXED. Again instant haulage mission failure 1 minute after accepting it-huge fine . I feel trolled hard by the person who wrote those launcher notes.

No word of mission fixes in the change log? What gives?

That means updates in missions were done not by responding to any bug report or known issue. It is most likely related with male only mission giver text, which Sandro fixed.
