Engineers beta player with 1000s of hours, about to uninstall elite!

The game changes version to version are simply unacceptable. This game is no longer playable for me.

Tonight I got interdicted over a dozen times just trying to explore a populated fed system. I don't want to fight so I flee... Generally I flee whenever I can when I am exploring or trading. Tonight, another NPC python interdicted my A class python (no engineer modifications at all). And somehow, not only, kept up with me while I was trying to boost away. But did so while maintaining near continuous fire on me! My initial boost got me 1000 meters ahead in about 15 seconds (had to pop a shield booster) and I initiated my FSD but had to wait a factor of 17 to initiate. Which makes no sense to me if I am 1000 meters away! Boosting again but then he also appears to be boosting and in less than 10 seconds closed the gap to 200 meters even though I was repeatedly boosting. This python somehow had the speed of a viper! Next thing I noticed my thrusters are gone- and in a few seconds my frame shift drive is gone, both off line! Somehow he destroyed these systems with my shields still up!!! How is that possible in the elite universe? In a few more seconds my shields collapse and that's it... During all of this my power distribution is shields and engines, yet this other python not only closed the gap but it also maintained near continuous fire on me?! These game changes version to version, are so severe and game crippling that I no longer can tolerate it...

Dude, if you encounter a bug like this (at least the mass lock looks like an obvious bug to me):

1. use the task manager
2. raise a support ticket
3. watch your pulse and don´t take the whole thing too serious

This comes from a guy with almost 21 ingame weeks :)

I'm sick of the nonsense too, the only thing keeping me from uninstalling is the 120buks i've spent on it. I'm done buying games now. Especially when they delay major content for "QUALITY" reasons and release this garbage only to take for EVER to fix it...

Dude. Get some G3+ dirty drive upgrades. NPC's will never catch you. Going to get some for my T6, catch me if you can pirates!

OP,
You should know by now, that if you are trying to Jump, and are mass locked, you need to High Wake out of the system...
as for the speed of the Python, welcome to the engineers!

...

You're fleeing wrong.

You need to learn how to flee properly. I'm serious.

This is how you flee...

Defensive Piloting #1 - The Escape Route

I took the time to put this vid together, to address the exact issue you had.

I like how the game keeps spawning Elite pirates on me to interdict me in almost every system just because my combat ranking is Elite

at the same time, mostly harmless Asp scouts with no shields think they can take on my fully armed Anaconda.

The disconnect between these two things is overwhelming.

Mass-Lock exists for 3.5km, multiple Ships with a Heavy amongst them will extend that to 4.5km (with reference to the heavy, i.e. Anaconda, Corvette or Cutter).
-> learn the Mass-lock tables, so you know in advance (at the moment of Interdiction) what your best escape plan will be and execute it instantly

A select few NPCs still carry modded Equipment - such as modded Weapons and Thrusters.
In any similar Ship type encounter - don't expect to be able to reach 3.5km by Boosting (unless you run nicely modded Thrusters, then you can at least try).

Chaff works great to take the heat off from Gimbal Weapons.
-> but beware that many high-tier NPCs will use Plasma Accelerators
--> don't go a straight line, or you'll soak all of those up

No later than recognizing that re-entry to SuperCruise is impossible (can't reach 3.5km), immediately cancel FSD for SuperCruise and Hyperjump to any System within Range instead -> fixed 15 sec timer applies, no Mass-lock.

Hey i hate all the loading screens but we kinda live with it, anyway i hope that one day i'll be able to open system map without loading screen and hyperspace jump would be just fast moving thing and not loading screen. Just imagine supercruising to next system or using hyperjump that would be like uncontrollable supercruise that stops at your destination and lets you see all the stuff you pass nearby. That thing would be hard as hell to code so yeah. I can only dream.

This is one of the things wrong with the latest update: play exactly this way, or don't play at all:

Don't play at all: making high-wake (jumping to another system) absolutely the only way to solve such an encounter is bad. You might as well just log off. There is nothing entertaining, fun, challenging etc. about high-waking. High-waking was supposed to be the "way out" for players in case everything else fails. The "oh snap, that didn't work, time to leg it before I'm dust" moment. Now it's the "press X to not die" quick time event you resolve these pre-determined unbalanced encounters with. Yawn.

Play exactly this way: go see the Engineers. There's no alternative. Legacy modules don't have any role. Is anyone using E or D grade thrusters at all? Why are they in the game, just so we have a mandatory visit to the Outfitting menu? Bigger is better, follow the recipe, aim for the rank X module. Don't have it yet? Better use that high-wake then.

This game NEEDS a difficulty setting that also affects monies earned and how much influence a player has on the BGS. So 50% difficulty = 50% of the rewards and 50% of influencing the BGS. Surely that'll keep everyone happy?

how hard would that be to program? 50 % difficulty would mean NPCS have 50% less shields and 50% less DPS capability, surely it's just having a system to modify all the numbers? (I DO realise it'll be a big task, but it should be doable, right?)

Your method of fleeing allowed you not to be mass locked... Also your attacker didn't damage your engines and FSD thru your shields. I know how to flee, I have done it hundreds of times successfully until now...

Shame you feel like leaving OP.
The AI has taken a jump too far for many people but you gotta hi-wake out.

Hopefully this interdict nonsense will get sorted as well as it's crippling every session I am having just now!

they can't even get the standard difficulty level right, so multiple sounds impossible

Please name an MMO which has difficulty levels. Genuinely interested. I know WOW didnt.

Not sure what you are trying to say here, but if you are a trader and do not want to fight.... then high wake, if you are in a combat ship, you can fight, run or whatever you want, the "last update" has nothing to do with it.... The OP made the wrong choices and it cost him.... as for the systems going off line, it sounds like he may of cooked them , i.e. taking fire and boosting, charging the FSD etc.... and without knowing what class the modules are, this all plays in to why he died. But with out a video etc.... it's impossible to say.

They won't have to get "standard" right as doing it the way I suggest let's people customise the difficulty to their own levels, it won't be flawless, but it'll keep a LOT more people happy, especially if the difficulty does a Spinal Tap and goes up to 11 for the uber gaming masochists! ;)

Take a driving game, I fancy an easy race so I adjust the Ai slider till I'm qualifying 1-2 seconds faster than the Ai and I have my easy race, now that could mean 80% ai, 70% or even 50% depending on "my" skill. Likewise I want a harder race so I adjust the Ai slider till I'm lucky to qualify mid pack and I have my race barging doors mid pack. Or I do the first option and DON't bother qualifying to see if I can get to the front in a set number of laps. It ADDS so much playability to a game to have an adjustable difficulty.

The issue with Elite is the MMO aspect so reducing the credits earnt and BGS influence based on the difficulty setting should stop any problems there.

I couldn't give a damn about other MMOs, all I know is surely what I suggest would keep most people happy and a LOT more than there are now, which can only be a good thing surely? Otherwise the game will only appeal to the hardcore and that crowd is a tiny minority.
