Almost nailed it :D
Elite came out in '84, not '83

A dev recently posted that they've been hard at work creating 100's of new modules. Make of that what you will, but I suspect it means that in Beta 2, we will be seeing LOTS more content.

aren't we picky? :) i'm 44, i'm entitled to some memory failure am i not?

Man I hope the devs are smart and don't react to the fanbase opinions in a kneejerk way. The game has massive potential, could be one of the best games around or it could become a 4/10 game that is trashed by critics and fails hard.

As it is now the game just has way too much time spent in supercruise and docking to the point that it's mostly what the game is as well as glitchy supercruise sequencing that completely ruins the immersion and netcode that makes it a single player game. I'm hoping that this is just because of the beta, if it's not ready don't release the game. They need to take the best parts of other space games and add them and not be bullheaded, the real potential is in multiplayer where unique large scale interactions can happen. Could go either way and it's interesting to see a game on the tipping point between fantastically fun and embarassingly dated and poorly coded. Take your time devs, make the game fun above all else, please. I want to have a game that I like so much that I will spend hundreds of dollars on, where the players actions feel consequential.

I am dying for a game that is actually well developed that synthesizes the best aspects of other games to make it a game that is suitable for the modern age of gaming and not something that is stuck in the 80's. e.g.

Earth and Beyond had wonderful teamplay/formation mechanics and exploration
Eve has amazing market tools and open ended multiplayer
Star Conflict had fantastic combat with fast paced and strategic gameplay
The X series has great scale (large cap ships) and well designed docks

There's no need to make the docking so tedious, it sucks the fun right out and empowers those who are willing to withstand punishment to say they are better than everyone else. That's not fun, limit the grind and open up the game, not in a casual way but in a way that encourages people to want to play the game. As it is a docking and supercruise simulator sucks, hoping it's a long way from release because the flight mechanics and graphics are very nice so the potential is huge. If someone wants to spend hours a day hauling cargo let them, but if we don't want to please don't force it upon us, please be smart devs, make a 2015 game and not a 1984 game.

I disagree with most... The whole top and bottom of this is the very fact that it is Elite. I love the docking, I love the HS jumps etc. Its actually pretty awesome as-is. yes bugs, but that's what betas are. I'm 100% confident they know what they are doing with this. It's in safe hands :D
